I'm just curious as I am waiting for menopause. I've heard fibroids shrink with menopause. How long have you been post-menopausal, not counting the one year you went without periods as year one? Guest guest
Hi, After consulting two other surgeons, I had a consult mtg. with Dr. Jags Powar who's affiliated with Stanford Hospital. had a myo/laparotomy performed by Dr. . He's an OB/GYN who does myos around once a week. I would highly recommend him as one to do this procedure. I'm not sure what his thoughts are on doing myos on post-menopausal women...When I asked him if he's ever had to turn a myo into a hysterectomy, he said no though. Also, I brought him two sono pictures performed by other doctors, and they were enough for him to be convinced I needed to get my fibroid taken out. Also, he was in-network for my insurance, Blue Shield. You may want to contact him and at least get a consultation, which I think costs $250. I've never heard of Dr. Indman. Good luck! Have contacted Dr. Indman in Los Gatos but all procedures would be out of network as far as insurance and he charges $500.00 for the consultation and will not take my 2 week old sonogram. he does his own! Is somebody familiar with Dr. Indman? As many of you said. the toughest time is to find a doctor.! Thanks Chris
Guest guest
Hi! I had a recent lap/myomectomy from Dr. Camran Nezhat in Palo Alto. He uses the Stanford facilities for the surgery. I thought he was an excellent and compassionate doctor and felt that I was in the best hands. If you'd like to know more about him you can email me off the list. Guest guest
I had a myo March 25 and had 3 giant fibroids removed. My uterus was the size of a 7 month pregnancy. I visited two doctors in San Francisco, Dr. Shu and Dr. Marilyn Milkman. Here are my thoughts on both. They both were attentive, good listeners, and never used the " H " word. They were both well versed on the surgical choices from different types of myomectomies to UAE's. They talked to me about the +'s and -'s of each based on what my short and long term reproductive goals were. They both do lots of myos a year and seem to have a good track record. Both doctors participate in PPO's. I chose Dr. Shu because she had zero conversions from myos to partial or total hysterectomies during surgery and I felt she was the stronger surgeon of the two. I think Dr. Milkman mentioned she had a few conversions. I also chose Dr. Shu because she felt she could give me a bikini cut instead of a vertical cut. Dr. Shu was also a little more responsive in terms of getting me in to the best ultrasound labs quickly. I think in the end, she gave better service. It's post# 15725. In short I was very dissapointed because he spent the entire time trying to persuade me to have a hysterectomy even though I made it VERY clear that I was not interested in going that route. Once he heard that I didn't plan to have children he was not interested in discussing anything but the hyst. I'm 44 and no children by choice. I am still looking for an IR in the northern CA or bay area. Does anyone have information on Dr. Dieden at Kaiser in Oakland?
