Guest guest
Alisa, I had my RAI with my TSH at 19. We felt that it just wasn't going to go up to 30 (my endo's goal) because of the size of the remnant I had left and neither one of us wanted to delay. In spite of the TSH, I had an excellent uptake, in fact all too good for the sake of my salivaries and nose. Ten days later when I had my scan, there was enough left to do a good reading. I did adhere very rigidly to the LID, even forced myself to give up white coffee. My dose was 200mci. Helen, TT PAP 2/02 RAI 4/02 200mci Scan 5/02, uptake in thyroid bed only Sore nose, still hPTH

Guest guest
Thanks, Helen - I am going to call my endo today, and see if I can get his input on this. I've also been adhering very rigidly to the LID. Anyone else have thoughts on this? How fast does it take for your TSH levels to rise 2 1/2 points? Guest guest
Hi Alisa - Our rise in TSH is so variable. Mine went from .6 to 212 in less than four weeks (and THAT was two weeks ago!). I'm scheduled for my scan tomorrow and my guess would be that I'm hovering around 300-400. aproctorus wrote: Thanks, Helen - I am going to call my endo today, and see if I can get his input on this. Guest guest
Dear Alisa - I wouldn't worry about it. While it's likely that your TSH will be over 30 by tomorrow's scan, for the purposes of doing a scan, 27.5 is close enough to 30. Also, the increase in TSH is not a linear thing ... your TSH could stay put for several days, it could go up a few points, or it might jump up another 10 or 15 points in a really short time. BTW - several people have implied a connection between elevated TSh and adhering to the LID. While I agree that doing the LID is important, it has nothing to do with how high (or low) your TSH is, but only how much iodine dietary iodine you are consuming (therefore, hopefully, enhancing your uptake of RAI). - NYC aproctorus wrote: > Thanks, Helen - > > I am going to call my endo today, and see if I can get his input on > this. Guest guest
Thanks, :-). What I was thinking is that both are important for a good uptake, not that they're interconnected. So if I had a slightly low TSH AND had been a bad LID'er, that would not be as good as that same TSH and having been well behaved. Cheers, Alisa SNIP > BTW - several people have implied a connection between elevated TSh and adhering to the LID.
