Will they be using the electrode especially for the ossified cochlea? I know that MedEl has that one. We had wanted the Med El for Jake but due to it being about to start in the first trials in the US at that time, we knew insurance wouldn't pay and couldn't dig ourselves a hole that deep. Thanks for sharing the great news with us and good luck! Elaine Cueing Mom to Jake/6yrs/Clarion CI/2-
Guest guest
Hello all. Yesterday my daughter was implanted with a MedEl Combi 40+ cochlear implant. The surgery was an absolute success. Her left ear was implanted because both ears had occification on the cochleae but the left ear had less. When the doctor opened her up, he saw that it was a lot less than he anticipated. He was able to implant her with MedEl's standard device (they have a compressed electrode array and 2 electorde array for occified cochleae) and achieve full insertion of the electrode array. Praise God! It's exactly what we've been praying for. We look forward to Jan 9 - her initial stimulation. Right now we're home and she's sleeping more than usual but doing absolutely fine. Thanks for all the inspiration and support that I've received from you all on this list. I'm anticipating great success with 's speech development. Guest guest
I'm so glad to hear the surgery was successful; you've been planning this for a while now. I wish you luck! Have you gotten a date yet? >> We go over all the equipment and how to use it on Jan 8, hook up on Jan 9 with programming and 2nd day programming on Jan 10. So we'll have a three day getaway in ville. Not quite a relaxing getaway to the Bahamas, but I'm so thrilled about it I just can't wait!!!
