Guest guest
Dear all, Re: /message/8926 We all know that first hiv case was found in india by Dr. Solaman. And agree for the BPO employees at risk in multiple dimension. But do you think that some one can call the BPO employees call center ROMEOS?. This does not look like a word with empathy for a person or people at risk. Atleast, I dont think so . I am being an ex-employee of a very big bpo with 12000 professional. Iam still in touch with many of the employees and help many on the issues of drug use and relationship. BPO employees are a community at risk , so its a community. So respect them communities such as FSW, MSW,People who use drugs, transgenders every one have sentiments. Of course Dr, sunithi solomon had done a lot to drug using community than any other NGO in chennai. YRG care is a pioneer in HIV/AIDS in chennai. It would be nice if these statements are avoided in future. I got mails from BPO employees instantly with reactions as i forwarded this mail from AIDS INDIA group to the BPO employees. And last but not the least BPO employees dont like to be called as call centre employees but BPO employees or professionals. call centre is an old term which has to be corrected as BPO. Guest guest
Dear All, Re: /message/8926 It is vitally important not to be judgmental towards anyone in a response to the HIV/AIDS pandemic- when working sincerely from a rights perspective. We must ensure avoidance of words and terms which are not in accordance with a sensitive appproach towards people- especially when the 'community' is being projected as a primary stakeholder of the proposed intervention(s). We have to, at the same time, ignore the inadvertent usage of a term by a person who has been commmitedly working for decades on prevention, care, support and treatment issues. Let us continue working zealously on the sustained endeavours mainitaining respect and dignity of all the concerned. Best wishes, Rajesh Gopal. Guest guest
Dear All, Re: /message/8926 First break the myths that only call centres and young people are sexually active. I think all we need to do is promote safer sex in all the workplace not just call centres. Also, let us not blame just the young people with respect to HIV AIDS We must also work towards HIV testing preparedness. Most of the people are not prepared to get themselves tested. First testing preparedness and then treatment preparedness will be non-judgmental attitude in action. Guest guest
Dear All, Re: /message/8926 The concern raised by Dr. on 'Call Centre Romeos' is based on the personal experience in the clinic. Its really becomes important to think over this hypothesis and test it by means of a multi centric research study, whatever the data we are analyzing mostly from Government institutes, hospitals, health centres and making interpretation from it. Even the socio economic determinants are having impact over HIV prevention and control. ( Proved). hence unless we analyze the data from private health sector we couldn't make representative solution. We may get some new factors ( stigma & discrimination is high among educated may leads to silent HIV epidemic ) by carrying out a sound & epidemiological study where routine check up is not possible from the private sector. In this ' call Centre Romeos' issue , i think in spite of talking on multi partner sex, lets begin to test the hypothesis raised by Dr. in a multi centric study approach.
