Guest guest
Hello again! I just posted about my abdominal swelling issues. I forgot to put my name, silly me. I am Ana Karina and while I lurk I don't often post. In the Enzymedica Digest Gold that I just bought it lists maltase. It is an enzyme but the other name for is malt diastase. As far as I understand, this enzyme helps to break down grains, maltose, and sugar. Enzymes can be made in various ways, but this enzyme can be made using barley malts. This would not be strictly gluten free. After doing Internet research on the Celiac forums, it turns out that it may contain gluten but at a concentration low enough to be considered legally gluten free. I am concerned about this since I am experiencing some problems with not tolerating previously tolerated foods, abdominal swelling, and fluid retention in my face and fingers. Ana Karina SCD since Nov. 2006 IBS-C, gluten/lactose/additive intolerant
