Guest guest
Hi! My name's and this is my first post though I've been 'monitoring' for some time. Briefly, I have suffered with gut dysbiosis/candida for about 15 years, I'm now 30. Despite following strict anti-candida diets and herbal supplement programmes for years and years, I just got sicker and sicker. Eventually I was diagnosed with a mega-colon (I had about twice the length of colon as an average person all squished into a very small abdominal area!! and thus not working at all well, and home to a lot of nasty bugs) and my colon was almost entirely removed 18 months ago. Some of the issues (such as acute constipation necessitating constant enemas and laxatives) have eased, but I am still left with debilitating symptoms relating to dysbiosis - brain fog, irregular bowels, painful bloating and utter exhaustion and depression on some occasions. I control this with herbs but I never seem to get on top of things. I went on the SCDiet last summer and it seems to help and hinder me at the same time. I am a yoga teacher and exercise daily, and while the diet seems to settle my gut in many ways, I find it very hard to stay strong and fit on it. I lose weight, become weak and then often relapse due to low immune response. So it feels like a catch-22! My biggest problem is BREAKFAST! As i teach yoga from 7-9am and then do my own practice from 9.30am-11.30am I rarely get the chance to eat before midday and this pattern leaves me exhausted with messed up adrenals and difficult gut issues. My questions are these: - i don't seem able to tolerate fruits at all, even bananas, is this common? Also, the yogurt (which I have prepared several times exactly as per instructions) gives me terrible brain fog. - nuts give me a great deal of problems as well in terms of wind, bloating and keeping me awake with the pain at night which rules out the delicious nut-flour based recipes. Is this common? And nut butter gives me awful brain fog. - I have recently started to eat minimal grains again - only oats and a little rye. They seem to really make me feel well - giving me energy and balancing my sugar levels and adrenal issues, but I fear my gut will start to suffer as a result. Does it sound as if I may be better off eating these grains ie. do my symptoms sound like the usual symptoms improved by the SCDiet or am I barking up the wrong tree so to speak? - any ideas for breakfast that would be a simple, easily digested snacks, as I can't practice yoga after too much food?! Thank you for any help. I'm feeling a bit desperate and so sick and tired of feeling sick and tired!
