Hello everyone. I have suffered from hives for 11 years now. The

first 9 they were mild and I just kept taking benadryl. This may

sound dumb but I didn't realize that's what they were. 2 years ago

the benadryl just stopped working. I was taking WAY to much just so I

wouldn't itch. But I itched and I itched and I scratched. As many of

you I scratched til I broke the skin and drew blood. I went to see an

allergist. Not only do I have idiopathic but I also have asthma. Up

until this week I have been taking 9 medications and using a cream.

Some days I'm fine and somedays, well you know you just can't stop

itching. I also get the swollen joints. I sometimes get hives that

sit under the skin and become painful. And I'm tired of taking

prednisone when the medications won't work. I've taken 90 mg already

today. They won't go away.

I started seeing a new allergist this week. The one I had been seeing

has told me at every appointment he didn't want to test me. He didn't

want to waste my money. Course not he'd rather see me once a month

and get his monthly fee. Which he wouldn't if I was diagnosed

correctly. I'm now down to 7 meds and the cream. The new allergist

ran some tests to see if anything is there. I'm keeping my fingers

crossed. However due to all the antihistamines a skin test was out of

the question. So they did blood work but it will take 2-3 weeks for

the results.

I have a question for all of you. Has anyone taking prednisone

noticed any bruising on any part of your body? I have been finding

numerous bruises. But only on my legs and feet. God bless you all.
