Guest guest
Ann, Try Whole Foods for hot dogs. I haven’t looked for legal hot dogs yet, but I just went online to get the ingredients on Meyer hot dogs, listed below. But I think if you check the ingredients and they don’t have illegals in them they should be okay. Does anyone already use a certain brand that are legal? Donna Ingredients: BEEF, WATER, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF SALT, CORN SYRUP, DEXTROSE, SODIUM LACTATE, SODIUM PHOSPHATES, SODIUM DIACETATE, ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C), EXTRACTIVES OF PAPRIKA, DRIED GARLIC, SPICE, SODIUM NITRITE. Ingredients: BEEF, WATER, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF CORN SYRUP, MODIFIED CORN STARCH, SALT, DEXTROSE, SODIUM LACTATE, FLAVOR, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, SODIUM PHOSPHATES, SODIUM DIACETATE, SODIUM ERYTHORBATE (MADE FROM SUGAR), EXTRACTIVES OF PAPRIKA, SODIUM NITRITE. Guest guest
I have not found legal hot dogs but costco has a few sausages that "appear" legal, ie, have no illegal ingredients listed. Look carefully at Costco if you have one near you. Costco also has Niman Ranch pork chops wrapped in their own bacon, they are divine. Donna Paslaski wrote: Ann, Try Whole Foods for hot dogs. Guest guest
I have been told that Whole Foods has their own brand of hot dog and it is legal. I haven't checked it yet but it is worth a try. Guest guest
the undisclosed "spices" would make this illegal unless checked into to see what they are and if there is any anti clumping agents. Katy Beef*, water, sea salt, contains less than 2% of the following: celery juice, sodium lactate (from beets), lactic acid starter culture(not from milk), onion powder, spices, garlic powder, paprika. Guest guest
I spent some time online trying to find the ingredients to the 365 brand (Whole Foods) uncured hot dogs—with no luck. My husband doesn’t eat red meat, so before SCD I got used to soy dogs—with a little mustard and onion it tasted good. But now with SCD I don’t have a substitute., and I miss hot dogs. I’ll swing by Whole Foods and see what they have, unless someone else has the information. Guest guest
Pat, Have you checked with applegate farms regarding the " spices " listed...I always want to use their products, but have been hesitant since most have the " spices " ingredient. Guest guest
Hello all, I spoke to a friend of mine whose son has been on SCD for years. I asked her whether she was familiar with hot dogs from Whole Foods that are SCD legal. She mentioned the Applegate Farms Organic Uncured. Is this the brand that we’re talking about on this listserv and since it doesn’t list a particular spice it’s questionable? She also mentioned Boars Head hot dogs—says that it isn’t organic but believes they are legal for SCD. Anyone familiar with the Boars Head brand and legality of it?
