Guest guest
Val, I definitely understand. Thank you for your comments, though. Love to you and to all in our group, n apropos of almost nothing, but related to MS/handicaps/ placards, etc.To: MSersLife@yahoogrou ps.comDate: Monday, August 25, 2008, 1:55 AM I was doing some online searching today, just sort of blithely wandering around the web when something came on the radio about "hate crimes." It suddenly struck me, and I posted to my friend who had the incident in Connecticut where she was ticketed for using her blue placard "without a wheelchair," yet. So, I began re-reading the current acts; handicap and disability are included at this time. I cannot imagine that an act of violence, verbal abuse, denial of services available to others, etc. would NOT be a "hate crime," in reality, if committed against a person with a disability, including humiliating or at tempting to humiliate a person using a blue or red placard. Here in California we have a state torte that prohibits the "intentional infliction of emotional distress" on any one by anyone. Period. I know: no link, Love, nonetheless, n
Guest guest
I have seen this behavior for many years before I was dx. For 2 1/2 years I went to doctors appointments with residents to be sure things got done. The so called educated people that treat you like a post or talk down to you - or just ignore your existence ... I always had a mouth and I still speak up - I ask when I need something - whether it is to double bag purchases and not too heavy - I also lift it and if it is too heavy I ask them to fix it . But it all comes back to responsibity and teaching - sadly that isn't going on - at home, at school, or in the work place. apropos of almost nothing, but related to MS/handicaps/ placards, etc.To: MSersLife@yahoogrou ps.comDate: Monday, August 25, 2008, 1:55 AM I was doing some online searching today, just sort of blithely wandering around the web when something came on the radio about "hate crimes."
