Guest guest
Last couple of attacks I had my hands and feet went numb all the time. You know what's even scarier???? The other day I dropped my teen off at school and as I was coming to the red light my left foot was frantically searching for the clutch pedal while my hand was on the gear shifter ready to down shift. Not so scarey right? Well, I drive an automatic!!!! I thought i was losing it! Have turned the left signal on to go right and vice versa. I think your neuro is right though. I had to give it about 2 weeks after my step down doses before all the feeling came back into my hands and feet! Take care, Kate. Just remember the clutch story if you ever need a good, wide, broad smile. Laugh at me if it makes you giggle to yourself!!! Guest guest
Hi, Kate: The car foot pedal issue is a concern for me, too. There have been times when I think I'm applying too much pressure too quickly. And, there was a period a few years ago when I had trouble driving at night. The headlights of oncoming cars really hurt my eyes. At present it's not so bad driving at night. But, it's a concern! BTW, I bought an electric skillet last night at Target. So, I'm getting prepared for round 2 of frying chicken! --Dana F. Utz utzdana@... https://home.comcast.net/~utzdana/
Guest guest
If your car is an automatic and your left leg is better than your right, Well , you can drive with the left foot. I did this for the first two years back when I wore an AFO brace on my right leg and ankle. It takes a little practice to get used to using your left leg on the gas and the brake, go practice in a deserted parking lot or little used road. I had to sit slightly crooked and move my right leg to the right out of the way. Only vehicle I couldn't do it on was the ford van at work that had a big hump in the middle. The chevy van also had a hump in the middle , but was more tapered so I could drive it. I wasn't able to drive the two trucks we had at work with standard transmissions for almost 3 years. My personal van had cruise control in it, was the only way that I could drive out of town for years. But for driving around town driving with the left leg worked well for me.
