Guest guest
Dear FORUM, I am happy that Dr. Tejaswi, is educating barbers for prevention of HIV\AIDS through razors. I wonder whether it will be practical to soak a razor in a solution for Sodium Hypochlorite for 30 minutes after every shave\hair cut. It is not practrical. Though every barber must have promised you the same yet it is not posible. Can a barber ask a customer to wait till the razor gets disinfected? Any morning and on holidays and Sundays the barber shop is full with customers. The barbers do not get time even to lift their head. In such a situation it is not possible to disinfect the razor unless until the barber has a dozen razors for each barber. The solution lies in changing the blade every time they use the razor on a new customer and not dis infecting the used razor. Inorder to do this the customer s have to be educated to ensure that the barber uses a new blade everytime. The disinfection of razors cannot be monitored even in army where so much stress is laid on prevention of HIV\AIDS through this source. With regards Yours sincerely Lt.Col. (Dr.)S.S.Verma (Retd.) Guest guest
Dear FORUM, Re: Patna- Barbers trained on HIV AIDS Awareness Its my suggestion that we encourage a small shop be opened in the immediate vicinity of the barbers' shop by an enterprising person who in addition to blades keeps other nick nacks, snack items, etc. The barbers should insist on new blades being bought directly like we buy disposabale syringes to get our kids immunised. Why leave it to the barber? Leave it to the client. Insist on Barber displaying the dangers of using a 'used' though sterilised blade. Guest guest
Dear FORUM, Re: Patna- Barbers trained on HIV AIDS Awareness I have never heard any case of HIV infection who got HIV through razor . Practically it is impossible to spread HIV through it. Tanweer Rizvi e-mail: <rizvitanweer@...>
Guest guest
Dear forum We want to say that a razor cannot spread HIV infection. The idea behind training barbers for HIV/AIDS issues is just to develop there shop as a hub of information on HIV/AIDS and ST's. So that they can help illitrate/ignored person on such issues. Barbers shops can well utilized for IEC dissimination and condom distribution. Deep Mala Deep Mala Kaushal e-mail: <deepa12313@...>
