Guest guest Posted September 8, 2007 Report Share Posted September 8, 2007 Rajya Sabha Government of India is implementing Antiretroviral Treatment (ART) Programme for eligible persons with HIV/AIDS since April 2004 with first line ARV drugs. Treatment with second line ARV drugs is not part of the programme at present. The Project started in April 2004. The funds allocated and utilized for ART Programme since 2004-05 is as under: - (Rupees in crore) Year Funds allotted Funds released 2004-05 0.20 0.21 2005-06 34.99 25.80 2006-07 67.28 75.44 2007-08 124.30 The drugs for first line treatment cost Rs.650 per month per patient, while second line treatment cost Rs.8000 per month per patient. No funds are provided to NGOs directly by NACO. However, funds provided to NGOs and Govt. organizations through State AIDS Control Societies and funds released by NACO for HIV/AIDS awareness programmes can be seen at Annexure. This information was given by the Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Smt. Panabaka Lakshmi in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
