Guest guest
Hi All, Same doc, says The Steffee pedicle probe, followed by inserted a " feelar " proble. Thanks all for your help; I'm not very good at orthopedic surgeries yet. I have A LOT to learn! Also, is there anyone out there that knows a study group for the CMT testing? Or a place where we can go to practice online? ~~Diane ----{-@ To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart. -- Laird _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com
Guest guest
Diane: I don't personally know of a place where you can practice for the CMT exam online. AAMT does sell practice tapes, but maybe you already new that. I would suggest checking with the AAMT help desk to see if they know of online sites or places in your area to practice. Perhaps your AAMT board partner for your state can suggest something. Also, just giving AAMT the suggestion of putting together a study group might be a good way to get that idea rolling. What I did was call the director of the HIM department at the local hospital and signed up as a " volunteer " and sat in their department transcribing op reports because that is the area where I needed help. I had to officially be a " volunteer " so that I went through the process they do of signing confidentiality statements, training, etc. What the HIM dept let me do was transcribe reports that were already transcribed so I could look at the work the other MT had done if I had questions. I worked there during off-peak hours so as not to be in the way. It worked out great. I got to know some other MTs, introduced myself to the management in the dept., and managed to pass the CMT exam on the first try. Maybe you can do that in your area? Morrow, CMT Feeler Probe? Guest guest
>>The Steffee pedicle probe, followed by inserted a " feelar " proble. << I found a " feeler " , it was listed under O'Donoghue which is a probe in the Stedman's instrument book, but it is called an O'Donoghue cartilage feeler. Hope this helps, Sue

Guest guest
Diane, I do not know of any study groups but HPI does sell a book called " The Medical Transcription Workbook " that goes over professional issues, grammar, medical terminology, etc. It is supposed to help new MTs and prepare experienced MTs to take the certification test. > Hi All, > Also, is there anyone out there that knows a study group for the CMT > testing? Guest guest
I also have The Medical Transcription Workbook. I have used it along with my transcription course to test myself. I love it! CAI Student
Guest guest
I have that book, (MT Workbook) sent to me by mistake by HPI, and they allowed me to keep it. I'm very pleased they did, I'm finding it very useful and informative. It's a textbook, which kind of turned me off to begin with, I was building my reference library, but once I cracked it open and started skimming, I decided I was glad they sent it, and called to say I wanted to keep it and would send payment if they would send me the item I actually ordered (transcript keys for the SUM tapes), and they just sent me the correct item and didn't charge.
