Guest guest
Dear FORUM, Re: /message/8961 Chandigarh registering 30 pc increase in HIV+ cases, Is the rise real or Virtual? Dr. Gupta may be right that awareness is the cause-but I feel it is also attributed to the success of NACO (to whatevevr small or big scale) that people have stopped bothering about being seen going to ART centers. Affordability from even outside ART is another factor. The proof is that despite my sending majority of my patients to local ART center, still around 100 patients prefer to buy ARv's from the market and do not mind visiting a PP like me. The proof is many Hospitals now have started admitting HIV patients with complications and even without complications for surgeries and delivaries. The efforts of NACO are really bringing fruits(Mehnat rang laa rahi lagti hai). The news of second line drugs being made available at most of the centers including Chandigarh is heartening. My only worry is the success of reversing the trend of high risk behaviours and the day we achieve the that, believe me the battle will be over. Guest guest
Dear Forum, Re: /message/8961 Awareness and Access to Free ART will lead to an increase in health seeking behaviour and thus reporting. The increase may be thus an aftereffect. Instead of statitstics, the prime theme should be to encourage people to adopt safe behaviours and create an enabling environment to discuss the issues openly, with active involvement of PLHIV.
