Bangalore( India) Context Population Services International (PSI) is a non-profit, Indian Society, which began operations in 1988. It is affiliated with PSI in Washington , DC , which has similar connection to organizations in 60 different countries (www.psi.org). PSI is dedicated to the improvement of public health through promotion of products, services and information, which empower people to protect them from preventable diseases. PSI currently operates in 10 states with a full-time and contract staff of 1200 persons. PSI is implementing a project, entitled CONNECT, in partnership with FICCI (and other partners) to enhance the capacity of industries to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic in their workplace and communities. The $15 million project (2006-2011) is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The CONNECT project focuses on Karnataka and coastal Andhra Pradesh and four port cities of the country where PSI has led a successful HIV prevention project over the past six years. Successful implementation of the project will require development of value added models of PPP in HIV/AIDS and TB, raising contribution of additional resources by commercial firms, either in cash or in-kind for support of HIV programs and building the capacity of the local and national government HIV/AIDS institutions (SACS/NACO). This position has opened up since the current Project Director is moving on to another position within PSI. Position Purpose PSI is looking for a senior development professional with significant private sector orientation to manage all strategic, programmatic, finance, administration, operations, and donor and government stakeholder relations of the project. The fundamental role of the next Project Director is to build upon the strong foundation and systems that have been created. A solid team of skilled professionals is also in place. The third year of a five-year project is when activities dramatically ramp up and optimum scale and complexity is achieved. Hence, the Project Director will be expected to hit the ground running and generate the required momentum and energy. Qualifications The candidate should also have considerable donor management experience. The position calls for significant program management experience with an international NGO (at least 10-15 years) at a senior level. Demonstrated rack record of achieving results in the public health arena Proven track record in managing large complex HIV/AIDS or Public health programs (with at least an annual budget of $2 million). Significant experience in managing international donors required Strong orientation towards private sector marketing is preferred. Command over issues related to HIV prevention, care and support. Post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Public Health or related field Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to travel about 20 percent of time. Ability to learn, manage and lead a senior team, result orientation. Compensation: At par with industry standards for a senior leadership position in an international NGO.
