Guest guest
Caroline; I do SCD and environmental controls for my UC and am off meds and doing well in a controlled environment. Perhaps have him try going fragrance free and see if that does not help some....I was able to turn the running down to 1-2 BM a day just by switching everything to fragrance free. I am not kidding though it might seem that I am. Paraffin candles still send me running to the loo. Start by removing paraffin candles completely and isolating them in another location. Switch the dish soaps first since they touch our plates and get into the food........there is a ton of bleach in the commercial dish soaps. Next is the laundry soaps. Everyone is different but a lot of people can use the seventh generation brand (I can not since it is coconut based. Then switch the shampoos and personal products. After switching him, he will know if it is helping enough to switch out the entire family. This is how our family ended up totally fragrance free at this time and I am doing marvelously well. (I also had to treat some pollen/dust allergies). Before going fragrance free I could never attend my continuing education classes but since I can.......since there will be fragrance in the classroom, it is important to have a safe place to return to in the place that he is living. Since he is living alone it could work out.........but he would need a separate laundry facility if that begins to help since the chemicals in our laundry products are designed to add fragrance to our entire lives......so we really think we are smelling fresh laundry clean all the time. At least for me, these chemicals were the main trigger in addition to my foods. The laundry chemicals linger as fragrance in our homes for a very long time but I noticed quite an improvement at the beginning which kept on improving as I went more and more fragrance free. Also look at his most favorite SCD food......the one he could not be without or feels he could not do SCD without.......that he needs daily. That one is likely a food that he is sensitive to and should be eaten no more often than every four days. I know it is a lot to bite off........but if it could help him get back into classes and not have to miss so much, I thought it was worth mentioning. Guest guest
Michele, We're pretty much fragrance free already. My head explodes with any kind of scent, so I've never used anything with a scent. My son does have oat tree allergies and had been getting allergy shots for that, but I heard there were illegals in the allergy shots, so he's stopped the shots for now. Fortunately it's no longer oat tree season here. " I do SCD and environmental controls for my UC and am off meds and doing well in a controlled environment. Could you explain please? " Also look at his most favorite SCD food......the one he could not be > without or feels he could not do SCD without.......that he needs > daily. Guest guest
http://www.food-allergy.org/rotation.html Here is some info on rotation diet to prevent further food sensitivities from developing. I eat SCD but had to get rid of tomatoes, cheese, onions, brocolli, and others.....including coconut, safflower and sunflower and I eventually have lost almonds too...... You have to eat that food family once every four days and rotate to ensure variety. My allergy shots are just the item and salt and water. However, I take a shot for oats and oat tree pollen would have the illegal oat in it by default I think since it has the oat tree pollen. It is the amount that his body does not react to. My doctor uses preservative free ones and we have to freeze them. Tree pollen and molds and dust mites are huge trigger for my intestinal bleeding. Fragrance and petroleum based products are a huge trigger for my " d " . I had to stop our dishwasher soap becuase the bleach in it was harming me. Also, I was sensitive to aluminum and stainless steel so I had to switch to cast iron cookware because I was getting the allergens in my food daily.
