Guest guest
Hi there, WARNING THIS IS A LONG MESSAGE !!! :-) I just read your message, thanx for your reply. I would have replyed earlier, but im on a public computer and can only get access a few times a week! Well anyway.... I have been to my new GP, i told her about my bad experience with GPs in Glasgow, and told her all about what i had learned from this group. She seemed happy to help and said she would try me on different types of antihists until we found something that works, reviwing once a month. Initially, she has prescribed me with telfast at 120mg once a day. At first i thought these were successful. I have cholinergic urticaria (heat exercise etc) and i went for a long walk and although i took a reaction it was relativly mild i was slightly relieved to see any sort of improvement. Over the following days these reations got less and less mild, now im back to how i was before the meds. My doctor told me to take my meds in the morning, im not sure if they would have " worn off " by the evening, so today im taking my it at lunch time to see if this helps, but i doubt it as i have taken the stuff in the morning sometimes and had reactions at lunch time. Ill remember your advice RE St 's, but im not sure if i should give my GP a chance before asking for referals, what do you think? Well thanks v much for your advice ill always have somewere to fall back on now. PS I hope to go back to my GP next week, ill let you know how i get on. And your right London is nice from a tourist point of view, i went for the first time the other week, had a great time. Take care and thanx again. Guest guest
Hi , Great to hear from you again. Funnily enough I was in your hometown - Glasgow - last weekend. Stayed at the ArtHouse Hotel and ate two tables down from Carol Smillie! Anyway, I took Telfast (2 per day, I think) for a while although it didn't do much. It was being marketed as a bit of a 'new drug on the block' at the time, but I thought it's reputation as being designed with chronic urticaria particularly in mind was a bit inaccurate. Just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean that it won't for you, though! It would be worthwhile giving it a fair run. Maybe allow it some time for the effects to take hold and re-assess things in a couple of weeks. Did you mention to your GP the possibility of taking both an H1 antihist and an H2 antihist together? The theory behind this is that by taking both you block the release of histamine at both 'doors.' If you're only blocking one then histamine can still be released from the other. Telfast is an H1, but I'm not sure what H2 would work with it. Love For " JayVee " From > Hi there, > > WARNING THIS IS A LONG MESSAGE !!! :-) > > I just read your message, thanx for your reply.
