Guest guest
My son took a turn for the worse last week. He ended up with severe inflamation is all his joints, paticularly his ankles. He got so bad that by last Thursday he could no longer walk, he had sores in his mouth, and was getting bumps on his legs. His doctor put him on Prednisone, which cleared up the joint inflamation, but last night my son was in the worst pain in his gut he'd ever been in. He had a CAT scan today, which showed inflamation in his left colon...no evidence of perforation or obstruction thank goodness. The doctor suggested he be admitted to the hospital for IV fluids, Iv antibiotics, and IV Prednisone. Since there was no bed available, he'd had to be admitted thru the ER, and the doctor wouldn't be going to the hospital to see him tonight, my son decided to come home for the night and if needed he could always go to the ER later. The doctor said he should only have fluids tonight and I don't know what to give him. He's never been able to tolerate Welch's grape juice, I'm afraid Tropicana will be too acidic, and the apple cider has not agreed with him in the past. I've made him some chicken soup and had some pear juice left over from the pearsauce I made yesterday, and I've made the electrolyde drink, but would like to give him more fluids with calories. Any suggestions? I'm hesitant of the beef broth because of the recent e-coli recall from Whole Foods. I have lots of homemade applesauce and pearsauce that's very finely blended, but don't know if that would be too rough. Doc said fluids, but didn't specify clear fluids and I forgot to ask. Also, he had to drink barium for the CAT scan. Anyone know how filled with illegals that is?
