Guest guest
Hi again Sheryl, My family GP nor my immuno specialist ever suggested testing me for h.pylori. After having daily hives and angioedema for almost 5 yrs, I've read just about everything there is to read on the subject and also have benefited from the info I rec'd here when I joined the group in 99. Since some literature suggest that the h.pylori bacteria can be a cause or instigator in cu, I asked to be tested for it when I had my yearly bloodwork done. I too was shocked when the blood test came back positive. The treatment caused me no side effects, and actually, when I first began it, the hives/angio seemed to flare more often. However, after the 2 week treatment, I noticed an improvement in the severity and duration of symptoms. Since this has "seemed" to help, the Dr is starting me on a second 2 week treatment. The Biaxin and Protonix are the only meds I took, and I'm taking same amount and dosage this second round. The literature is most likely correct about a large percentage of the population having h.pylori. However, since it is one possible cause of CU, it is definitely worth being tested and treated for. The way I look at it....you only lose if you don't try. If this is my cause....OH HAPPY DAY! If not, at least I'm enjoying this little reprieve.
