Guest guest
If my mother can cook, any body can cook. She thought dinner was done when the smoke detector went off. If you can read and follow directions you can cook. I taught myself how to cook by using cook books just follow the directions. There are many state programs that teach people how to cook and shop for food. My mother was taught that way. A woman came to the house twice a week and taught her. I signed her up for the program and it was free. There are many ways to learn how to cook. If my mother can cook meals to get by so can you. I learned from a cook book and took classes. I was a pastry chef for many years. Gentle hugs, Ms.Katurah

I typed in food resources and called the lady with Food for your Soul and she states there are area programs and one called CANTEEN. I also found http://www.mealcall.org that lists food programs for Fresno and they can assist also. It takes a while and the lady with Food for your Soul stated that you need to contact the Department of Agency and they will coordinate for you as they are the main source. Your personal assistant should be able to help you also. I am sorry about your situation and you need to contact your Doctor also. Guest guest
: It is now 3:08PM PST I had my first delivery from Meals on Wheels about an hour ago. I ate one of the meals (Turkey a la King). It was good!! I will not be able to have any solid food tomorrow or Friday. I'm having a colonoscopy performed on Friday. I don't know if I will be in the mood for food this weekend. H. > wrote: > If you absolutley can't go, then get your aide to go for you, or call the grocery store. Guest guest
Cooking is not that hard. Look at Hot dogs. You put water in a pan, add the hot dogs and turn on the stove. Or better yet, stab them with a fork and put them in the microwave. Simple, and not that bad for you. Though there are better. Marta > Ms Katurah wrote: > If my mother can cook, any body can cook. Guest guest
I agree. There are tons of " add water and stir " stuff for the microwave! Pasta is easy (boil and pour sauce over). Grilled cheese. So much that is cheap and easy. Takes a lot more time and effort to say why things can't be done than to just do it. > MsKaturah wrote: > If my mother can cook, any body can cook. Guest guest
I am on disability allowance. I do not work. I have no partner. I have got 2 children 14 and 12. They have a very good appetite so I have to go careful with my money. I get my shopping online. It is so easy. My budget is £50. If I have a bit more money, I might treat us all to something nice but that is all. I have to find what is the easiest to cook as my pains restrict me from doing a lot. Either that or my youngest sometimes helps me out. You can do it. I buy microwave risotto 3 minutes in the microwave and it is done. And it is quite filling as well plus you can put slices of fruit in it x > Lori wrote: > I agree. There are tons of " add water and stir " stuff for the microwave! Guest guest
If you have trouble managing your own money you can get a rep payee. There are many social service agency that will act as a payee. The payee acts as your financial representative to ensure your bills are paid and gives you money for personal care items, etc. I advise having an agency or someone you trust to be your representative. If you go this route, you just need to fill out some paperwork for where ever your checks come from. > Halladay wrote: > I am not good at keeping a checking account!
