Guest guest
Bennie: I made several phone calls today trying to talk to someone about Meals on Wheels. I will finally get to speak to a person about this early tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. But, it might turn out that I cannot afford this service. It is not free. The place that will call me tomorrow has three plans: 1) 7 Entrees $23/week 2) 7 Light Breakfasts 7 Dinners Half gallon 2% milk 1 loaf of bread 1 carton of fruit juice $36/week 3) All of the above $52/week I am a very large person with a gigantic appetite. These meals are in very small portions. They are the same size portions as the Budget brand frozen TV dinners that I've been living on for the past three months. I had been eating two of those frozen dinners at a time. I'm 5'11 " and weigh more than 400 pounds. If I went with plan 3 (everything), then I would spend $208 each month!! H. Guest guest
please don't think I'm not empathetic, I am. But in all honesty, I think you really need to realize that you are not giving REASONS you are giving excuses. IF you are over 400 pounds, then maybe smaller portions are better for you. And I KNOW that the Meals ON Wheels program does not ONLY cover 60 years or over. http://www.mealcall.org/meals-on-wheels/ca/fresno.htm That has FIVE separate Meals On Wheels Programs. ONE of them is sure to work. $52 a week is NOT bad for food. My daughter and her husband spend about $70 per week on food. Besides, with you diabetes, you NEED food, and good food. SO what if the portions are smaller than you like, isn't SOMETHING in your stomach EVERYDAY better than nothing on some days? Guest guest
Are you eligible for bariatric surgery that might help you lessen pain by weight reduction? It would help a lot with food intake. > wrote: > I am a very large person with a gigantic appetite. > I'm 5'11 " and weigh more than 400 pounds. Guest guest
Lori: I go to Kaiser-Permanente Hospital. This is an HMO. Yes, I can have any type of weight reduction surgery. I am considering having the lap band procedure done. http://kp.org (Kaiser-Permanente Hospital's web site) H. > Lori wrote: > Are you eligible for bariatric surgery that might help you lessen pain by weight reduction? Guest guest
When I've lost weight my pain has lessened. Weight loss makes life easier and keeps people healthier. If I was eligible for the gastric bypass I would do it in a heartbeat. I'm 30 pounds overweight. Insurance approval requires 100 pounds over. Crazy that they want people to get that miserable before helping! > wrote: > Yes, I can have any type of weight reduction surgery. I am considering having the lap band procedure done.
