Guest guest
ART AND SEXUALITY Hello Everybody. Here is a competition that you can work towards to show the LGBT community as a visible and active segment of society. This is how: Ask the LGBT community / staff of your organization to come together as a group and put together a poster on issues of stigma and discrimination faced by them. The final poster made by the group must then be taken to the nearest art school/college students interested in art and the issue illustrated in the poster must be discussed with the students in an open forum. Then ask the students to make a poster on the issues discussed by the LGBT group and represented in their poster. Allow the students to use their creativity and express the issues of the LGBT community in their own way. Now each participating organization has two posters (a pair) ready: one made by the LGBT community and other made by the students of the Art School. The poster pair becomes part of a set of posters that will be made through out the country. The poster pairs will be brought together at an exhibition held in Delhi / Mumbai and the best pairs of poster will be awarded with Rs. 10,000/-. We will choose as many as we can to encourage pluralism and many voices being heard. PROCEDURE FOR THE COMPETITION 1) Identify your team and let them decide the subject on which they would like to make the poster 2) Write how you went and discussed this issue with the art students, class of students in the nearest college. 3) Photograph of discussions berween yourselves and art students must be attached and signed by a lecturer or principal of the School/College. 4) The poster must be produced on A/2 sized poster paper. 5) Put them all in a roller holder from the nearest stationary shop.
