Guest guest
Dear Forum, Re: /message/9136 This is a welcome step if imlemented in priniciple. However, the area of concerns include confidentiality protection- will this compromise the confidentiality to PLHIV and public disclosure of HIV status may lead to more discrimnation. If we cannot ensure this, people will prefer to not utlise the schemes. Another concern is implementation in practice and red tapism. A similar scheme of fianncial assistance for AIDS orphans and the extended to Children of PLHIV in Himachal Pradesh took off in 2007, but there was no budgetary provision in the curent financial year. Beneficiaries keep running to officials to enquire about the money but, just get assurances. Rajesh e-mail: drrksood@...
Guest guest
Dear Forum, Re: /message/9136 It is a positive move from the Governmental side . Even the stigma is not a big issue as sensitising the general public about the HIV is been happenig for a ong time . But our concern is that the NREGS Provides very tiring manual labour like deepening or desilting of the pond, strengthening the tank bund etc these labour would be very hard for the People who are infected with HIV as they would have low stamina for doing this type of hard labour . So that is the concern . If Govt provides any support to them by providing training for starting any self enterprenurship like making paper cups etc like wise and train them to market their own goods among the public it would create confidence among the PLHA to be an example to others . Forum please respond . Thanks D.Jaikumar e-mail: <deejai14@...>
