Moderator's Note: Lori, you and your husband need to meet with a good certified

accountant. What you have going is too complicated for tax software or a corner

tax filing outfit. (now on to Lori's message!)

----------------------

In 2010 I got a private disability award. The check came to me and I paid the

contingency fee to the lawyer that got me the award. I'm told I have to pay tax

on the $6700 I paid the attorney. Also, the insurance company didn't take enough

federal tax out and no state tax.

My husband has a good paying job. He paid taxes. He also does online sales that

make about $8,000 a year. We have to pay on that.

My husband used tax software and it appears we will pay over 50 percent taxes on

my disability and over 50 percent on the business income.

Now I got the social security back pay and I have to pay back the private

disability out of my award, which is all of it!

I have to pay taxes on money I can't keep! And already am going to pay in 2010

on the private disability money! Double taxes! Thank goodness the attorney got

a check separately from social security for his fee!

I'm in NW Ohio. Anyone have any suggestions?

Lori
