Guest guest Posted December 2, 2007 Report Share Posted December 2, 2007 Dear Forum, I on behalf of Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA) would like to pledge a solidirity to those young people who are actively leading from the front to combat one of the dreaded disease in the history of mankind. GYCA is a youth-led, UNAIDS and UNFPA supported alliance of over 3000 young leaders and adult allies working on youth and HIV/AIDS in 150 countries world-wide. GYCA is working in twelve regions across the world.This year keeping in mind the World AIDS Day theme " Leadership:Stop AIDS. Keep the promise " GYCA members all over the world are organizing different activities to address the issues related with HIV/AIDS. GYCA Bangladesh members organize a rally of 100 youths at Dhaka. The rally join with national rally of 15000 people.Part of National AIDS/STD program Organized by ministry of health and family well fare. A short video documentary was also screened on the ocassion. A rally was also held at Nepal,Youth Action Nepal, along with many organisations participated in a rally.Youth Action Nepal's volunteeers and activists were participated in the rally with diffierent traditional and professional customs signifying that fight against HIV/AIDS should initiate from every sector and Nepalese youth are already in this mission. The play cards carried out by the volunteers had highlighted that Youth are ready to take leadership role for our global fight against HIV and AIDS. In India also NGOs,civil organizations, pressure groups and political leaders observed the event.In a small state like Manipur,eastern most part of India different organizations observed the event in their own ways.Social Awareness Service Organization (SASO),a partner organization of Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA)has kicked off Four Days Campaign to marked the WAD event. As a part of this four days campaign, a team of SASO staff along with media personnel,counsleor of ART unit (Imphal West) and Regional Focal Point of GYCA South Asia visited different educational institutions to have interaction on young people and HIV/AIDS. The four days campign will wind up with a workshop on Harm Reducation on 3rd of December,2007.
