Guest guest
HI again, Annette, Your 5.7 HbA1c sounds great, but an HbA1c is an *average* of your blood glucose readings. Be sure to check your glucose levels within two hours of eating those high-fruit diets, to make sure they are not causing spikes, followed by hypoglycemic episodes. (We call that " rebound hypoglycemia. " ) Also check out http://www.mendos.com/gilists.htm for the Glycemic Index of various fruits and vegetables. It's good to avoid the starchy veggies such as corn, peas, lima beans, etc., and seek out the cruciferous veggies such as radishes, broccoli, cauliflower, plus the items high in monounsaturated oils such as avocado (guacamole dip). Salads are always a good idea. Varying the ingredients can keep them from becoming too boring. Susie

You know very little about what helps or hinders your progress if you don't test. If your A1c was 6.4, you are diabetic. But.....since you lost weight in stones and being tired is fag, I'd guess you are using British systems of measurement. A blood glucose measurement of 5.7 would be between 100 and 105 in our system....which is non-diabetic. Where are you from? ;-) Blood glucose is measured in milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) in the United States, and millimoles per liter (mmoles/L) in many other countries (Canada, England, Australia) This is important to remember if you are talking with someone from a country who uses a different measurement system than you do. This chart is for pets, but it does the job ;-) <A HREF= " http://www.petdiabetes.org/gluc_convert.htm " >http://www.petdiabetes.org/gl\ uc_convert.htm</A> (wsm311@...)
