Guest guest
Dear FORUM, Re: /message/8899 I truely value Saathi's concern regarding Community Care Centres (CCC). Going by the experience in Community Care Centers, in the begining it is always perceived as just like another hospital. Yes it true that Community Care Center is beyond Hospital. It is a center where comprehensive care for PLWHAs were given which includes medical, psycholgical, spiritual and hospice care It is imperative in the begining the implementing partner has to closely work with PLWHAs network, ICTC centers and spread the message of Community Care Center and its services. It is also important to spread the positive messages on HIV/AIDS and also on the care and support offered for PLWHAs in center. Implementing partner has to take active help of media both print and communication media. In Karnataka many implementing partners have used these approaches this has really helped in overcoming such hurdles. These activities also result in creating awareness and results in demand generation for the CCC services. It is also equally important there has to be constant linkages with Positive Groups, Other NGOs, and Government services (Health and Social services) in the local area. These strategies will have results in better utilization of Community Care Center by People Living with HIV and AIDS. Bharat Shetty bharatwrites2001@... Guest guest
Dear FORUM, Re: /message/8899 I have worked for CCC in Mumbai for about 2.5 years. It takes a while. Also, Rs.3000 grant is availlable for travel which could be used for creating awareness by Health care workers. In the initial stage CCC is not full and staff can be utilised in populariisng CCC using marketing model. I think it is good to create CCC as it is a bridge between home and institute and also a centre where people on ART in the early stage can be kept to manage side effects. CCC will really complement ART centre. I am copying this mail to Dr.Vasvani who is more experienced to comment further. Meenal e-mail: meenalmehta@...
