Good point! Volunteers are asked to give a great deal of themselves as well as

cost to keep volunteering. Cost of an organization at $20.00 would be much

more appealing to them.

NAEMSP. Even volunteer first responders should be able to come up with $20.00

for an organization. If Wisconsin EMS can do it for $20.00, we can too.

Other orgs related to EMS in Texas? Which ones? It's time for you,

representing EMSAT, to *act* like a professional and *act* like a

president of the only state EMS organization should. That, or for your

board to censure you. Agree, disagree, love, hate - just do it

*professionally*.

I just joined this group a couple of days ago and was thrilled there

were so many members from across this great state of Texas. I then

saw the post in regard to the EMSAT meeting coming up. I looked at

the web site to get more info. By the time I got back to reading

mail later in the day, there was another post from the " president " of

this group with all the " talk, talk, talk, blah, blah, blah " stuff in

it. I almost unsubscribed from the group and was going to send a

letter of complaint to TDH.

We are EMS PROFESSIONALS and should act like one day in and day out.

These groups are open to anyone that finds them...not just Texas. We

in the South get enough of a bad wrap as it is without this kind of

thing going on. I often hear people talking about how little respect

EMS personnel receive. They don't realize what goes on in the back

of a truck. I had a nurse just the other day that didn't know we

carried medications on board. I understand the need to bring EMS to

a higher level, but there is an appropriate way of doing it.

As far as coming to a meeting to see what EMSAT is all about, I would

love to, but I'm not traveling to Austin to hear more of what was

sent in THAT email. I'm also not going to join an organization that I

know nothing about. Why can't some information be posted if you want

us to join? The leaders of organizations are supposed to set examples

for others to follow and not let their personal feelings override.

I apologize for the soap box here. I am so tired of EMS being

treated like " meat haulers " and when one of our own acts like that,

well...I'm embarrassed to be involeved in it.
