Guest guest
Just wondering if anyone else has the problem of time management. I only have about 5 hours in the day that I can actually be functional to the point of being able to do dishes, make beds or what ever needs done within my limitations. I usually hit 2:00pm and it is a downward spiral from there. It is very difficult for me to set priorities as to what is more important to get done within that time period. I usually end up pushing and being much worse in the pain dept because of it. Seems that taking care of myself takes a back seat more times than not, UGH! Anyone else in that boat? Guest guest
Bren, thanks for your post as I can definitely relate. I sometimes make a master list of stuff that needs to be done around the house. In the evening I make a small list of things that I would like to accomplish the following day. This helps me stay on track and get something accomplished. When I am having a " better " day invariably I will overdo it. I haven't figured that one out yet. Guest guest
I don't know how many people you have to feed and clean up after but I can tell you one thing, making a bed to me is no more than tossing a blanket over the bed. Now on bed changing day, I get that done early and choose lighter chores after. I've had trouble doing dishes for years, my upper back and neck spasms in pain. My husband does dishes and my older daughter who is 37 takes her turns, she also works a part time job. It's just the three of us here. When I dirty a glass or plate I wash it right away so I don't pile up any dishes. Instead of sweeping every room in the house I do two one day and one or two the next day and so on. I mop once a week on the day I don't sweep. Doing laundry is one load a day never letting it pile up on me. When it's spring cleaning time I do things at the level most comfortable to me and everyone else helps. Lifting and moving heavy things has to be done by others but I can move my couch cause it's light and I do it with my leg or hip a few inches at a time. Trust me, it's never all the way done but it's not messy or dirty either. I live with animals so there is hair but I do grooming, one or two animals a week in rotation so everyone gets brushed, bathed, nails clipped at least every 2 or 3 months. The little dogs and the cats I can do while sitting on the couch. It's bathing that's hard on me. Probably on average, I do chores 2 or 3 hours or less each day. Guest guest
I also live with animals. 2 small dogs and 2 Amazon parrots. I just gave my smallest dog a bath this morning, but it had been ages since she had had one. I take them to PetSmart for their nails to be clipped. Neither one needs professional grooming. I bath the little dog at my kitchen sink and then scrub it out after. The birds are a different story. I have to do a lot everyday to keep up with them. Cleaning their cages really hurts my back. What really gets to me is that these animals are just as much my hubby's animals as mine and he has never once given a dog a bath. I think he has changed the cage papers once. I don't want to fight. I really have to pick my battles because he is in pain also. He is scheduled for a total shoulder replacement March 22nd. WOW, I'm gonna need strength to make it through his surgery and taking care of him afterward.
