Guest guest
Lori: I have a HUGE problem with making online purchases. I do not have any credit/debit cards!! I must pay for things with a money order or cashiers check. Amazon stopped accepting that kind of payment about a year ago. Now the only way to pay for things with them is by credit card. The only web site that accepts money orders and cashiers checks is eBay!! And that is when it is a transaction between two people and not a major company!! Guest guest
How about asking a social service agency to help you set up a checking account so you can make online purchase and build credit? Not credit cards, those are horrible. A debit card where you use your own money. You can open an account with $10 usually. If you have your incoming money electronically deposited into your account then you can better manage your money and it is much easier than getting a money order! You will also feel very good about yourself for making positive progress! > wrote: > I do not have any credit/debit cards! Guest guest
Lori: I am not good at keeping a checking account! I've messed several of them up by not entering the purchases into the register! Another thing. " Plastic money " is not recommended for people with bipolar depression. We can and do go on spending sprees where we spend money that we do not have. I have maxed out credit cards in a wink of an eye!! I once had a Sears card. I went to the computer department and charged up more than $1000 in less than 30 minutes!! I had no way to pay Sears back!! I know that my credit rating stinks!! Guest guest
For a couple of bucks here in Indy its $3, you can buy a pre paid visa, master card and put however much money on it you want,my local gas station carries them as well as drugstores etc. Amazon also has gift cards you can buy in person with cash then use online. For awhile I did not have a debit card and would cash in my disability check and put some money on a prepaid card-no fees to use, and then I could order stuff online, etc. -We are continually faced by great opportunities brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems. Guest guest
You can get a visa debit card at almost any store these days. I see them in drug stores and walmart. You can even have your paycheck direct deposited. It will allow you to use it on-line. Jennette > wrote: I do not have any credit/debit cards!! Guest guest
If you go to www.usdirectexpress.com They are not exactly affiliated with the Social Security administration, but they do have a loose agreement with them. (SS dept has their brochures, etc0 and it's VERY easy to set up your SS to be direct deposited onto the card. You are allowed one ATM withdraw per deposit, then it costs like .20cents BUT, using it online or at stores is FREE and there is NO monthly fee! It' safe, secure and the day your money is supposed to arrive, it's HERE, on the card and ready to use. And you cannot over spend, because if you don't have the money, it won't go through! Guest guest
That's why a PrePaid Debit card, like the ones at WalMart, or the www.usdirectexpress.com are so good. There is NO WAY to overspend. Marta wrote: I am not good at keeping a checking account! I've messed several of them up by not entering the purchases into the register! Another thing.
