Along with supplementation, I was told by my endo to make sure I get 20 minutes of sunlight directly on my skin every day. Tough in the winter, but oh, so easy in the summer. Doreen, I agree how important Vitamin D is to our health especially chronic pain patients. I stay away from the humidity. Also, darkness enhances Depression, to sit in the dark causes more depression, opening up the shades and making sure your home has all the light it can provide, allows for the Vitamin D. My family will close all the blinds to prevent glare on the computers but I go and open them all up. We need the sunlight as you say. I take a Vitamin D supplement that has Calcium and Phosphorus along with Magnesium as Vitamin D effects the absorption of Calcium. The active form of vitamin D helps control calcium and phosphate levels in the body so I want to make sure I get the Vitamin D absorbed along with my Calcium. Vitamin D also decreases pain according to research so I want to make sure I take it. I also had a severe Vitamin D deficiency when I had my thyroid taken out and was given injections of it and Vitamin B12 which I was also deficient in. Nutrition is so important to chronic pain patients especially and I forget sometimes and have to remind myself to include vitamins and good nutrition daily. Guest guest
Less pain in the summer, because of the heat. I can go out in the mornings and let the sun beam down on my back (nature's heating pad). I live in a pretty dry climate, so humidity isn't too much of a problem. But my fibro will flare anytime I feel stressed. I have degenerative bone disease, arthritis, bursitis. I have a new left knee, my neck is fused all but one level and I have an occipital electro-neuro stimulator. My friend calls me the bionic woman. This morning is very nice for the first time this week and yet I woke up with every joint hurting like crazy, even my wrists!! Hope you all have a nice Saturday.
