Guest guest
Hi, everyone. Looking for an opinion or two here, before I call my endo. (Who I have an appointment with this Wednesday, trying to figure out if this is worth calling him before that). For several months proceeding biopsies, and surgery, I was on a very low dose Synthroid (.20 mcg), which was just enough to keep my TSH at a pretty good range, for me. I felt pretty good, as my TSH was around 1.68 (please remember, I still had a somewhat functioning thyroid, then). On June 18th, just about a month ago, we stopped all Synthroid, when my papillary cancer diagnosis was made. So I went from June 18th, to my surgery on July 10th, while taking nothing. Had my TT on July 10th. Its only been a bit over a week since the TT, and the past two days, especially, I feel sooooo exhausted, I can't even begin to explain (however, I KNOW many of you know the same feeling). Its not a lack of sleep feeling. I get 7-8 hours a night. Its just this run down, exhausted type feeling. This Wednesday, my endo. and I will discuss my RAI treatment, which I know will be in the very near future. My question is, this soon after surgery, is this feeling normal? I know that no two people are the same, just looking for opinions. I thought if I were to start to " crash " , it would be a good month from now (thats what my surgeon told my mom, after the TT, when I was in the Recovery Room). I know we have to wait until after RAI to start back on Synthroid, obviously being a different dose than what was, before. I guess I am wondering if this sounds like it could be thyroid related this soon, or something different that I should look in to? I have no other health conditions or complications, other than the papillary cancer. Thanks for any input! - 5-02 FNA 6-02 Core Biopsy Dx pap. cancer 7-02 TT

I remember having to without my thyroid replacement hormone pill, for six weeks beforehand, and on a strict no-iodine diet (which requires andvance planing and preparation for a variation of menus and food items). Yes I remember feeling very drag out, even to travel to a nearby city, that was 25 mins. away was a challenge. But I have had the iodine treatment a year ago now, and remember that as soon as apx. a few days after I was told i could commence my thyroid replacement hormone pills, I become stronger by the day. I took me what seemed like a mos. time to feel 100 percent better. Fr: Marilyn
Guest guest
Hi , You might want to ask for a little T3 (Cytomel) from your endo. It was the only thing that made me feel better and keep my energy up to almost where it was before the completion surgery. It's worth a try. Good Luck and feel better. Jewels in NY :-) 4/01 FNA - fol variant of pap pt 5/01 - benign pathology Mt. Sinai 2nd opinion MSK - micro pap 3rd opinion JHU - micro pap completion tt 10/01 - (and the same battle as above for a difinitive dx) 100 mci of rai 3/02 currently taking 100mcgs on even days and 112mcgs on odd days along with 25 mgs of Cytomel daily.
