Guest guest
If you have no insurance, there are programs through the Drug manufacturers that will pay for your medication for free. Ask your doctor about it, or contact the manufacturer of your meds.

For example, I went to the Lyrica website and along with their medication they gave this information: Together Rx Access™ Program overview Savings on many branded medicines through the pharmacy Call: 1- Visit the website Partnership for Prescription Assistance Program overview Access to more than 475 patient assistance programs. Call: 1-888-4PPA-NOW (1-) Visit the website I have found information by typing in free medication, ask your Doctor for samples, pain medication usually are not left as samples so contacting the manufacturer is the best bet. Guest guest
The only med I'm on that is expensive is my Endocet and I get the generic, and I found a pharmacy that's half the price for it than others. My others are quite cheap, although I would like to switch from Celexa (I hate the side effects but it's $4 a month) but haven't because of high cost of others. The only other one I take is generic xanax as needed for anxiety attacks. IT's not much, maybe $20. Do you think there is help for generics? --- Marta wrote: > > If you have no insurance, there are programs through the Drug manufacturers that will pay for your medication for free. Guest guest
There's another possibility too...because I'm SO low income, I'm part of the Low Income Assistance program, which means I don't pay a monthly premium for the Humana drug stuff and I only pay a $2.50 copay for most meds. Maybe that's something you can ask your covering company about, what assistance they have for Low Income? Medicare will NOT pay for the oxycontin, however, insisted I try morphine (which knocked me out to such a degree that it's unacceptable), and now I have to try a Duragesic patch, and if THAT's unacceptable, they'll pay for the oxycontin. The oxycontin if roughly $130-150, depending upon various promotions--which is BIZZARE, isn't it!--but the reason I want it is that it DOES last for several hours which means I can get a decently solid sleep, and without that sleep...well, you know THOSE effects! love, Helena

Helena, That is why I stated people really need to contact the SSI office themselves and when the denied my fried her SSI payment they mentioned she could appeal and I had just written three appeals for her Son through his Special Education programs and won. I said I would help them and followed the guidelines and found out all about the medical necessity program which is part of the low income program as she needed someone to stay with her and if her husband had to quit his job as he could not afford it. They would qualify for the SSI program so they approved her for the Medical Necessity Program based on the doctors instruction and justification that she had dementia so bad and turns gas on to cook all hours of the night and almost blew them up. We presented the documentation of their dementia as her MRI had brain plaques so it can be done with work and justification. Just like your Oxycontin, you could not take the other drugs on the formulary , so you were allowed Oxycontin. Depending on the program, you Doctor might have a form signed yearly as I take Provigel and it takes a justification letter and they can call that in and my Father does this with his plavix so it can be paid, the Doctor writes the justification and turns it in so keep copies of all your information in a three ring binder. Guest guest
> Does oxycodone work for you ? Yes, pretty well. I do have breakthrough (I think it's called )pain, but considering I've been on it probably 2 years I'm happy that I don't have some insane tolerance. Before that I had tried Hydrocodone, which I thought didn't help at ALL until I didn't take it- but WITH it I still was in tears and unable to have any level of quality of life- I built a FAST tolerance, it made me very cranky and I could just pass out sitting up, so no WAY on that. Then Lyrica, and let me tell you, that was HORRIFIC. I have no memories of the time I took it. I had to have someone with me at all times, I slept for days, my mom said I tried to start a fire, I was incredibly intent on killing myself- in other words, I had very bad side effects, lol. When my husband was so sick, and before I had finally gotten into pain management, he gave me some of HIS pain med (I know that's wrong, but the pain was unbearable and I had no money to get back to my regular doc) and it helped but made me very sleepy. So, I guess my point is, I'm scared to try anything else, because I'm scared it won't help and I'll be stuck with it.
