Specialists say " nothing can be done, it'll just get worse " --------- I have attended Pain Management classes and seen Osteopaths and Chiropractors. It looks like the specialist is right. Tony, I have " impinged " spinal nerves with scar tissue and they went in there with a catheter and broke up the scar tissue, not a surgery but a invasive procedure. Have you asked what they are trapped by? Scar tissue, bone on bone? You could ask. Bennie

Yes, the problem has been there since birth, I have a condition known as stenosis, a narrow nerve channel in my spine. About 20 years ago I started having problems with numbness and tingling in limbs which has progressively got worse so that now I am in constant discomfort and often in pain. The problem is due to pinching of the nerves and often resultant scar tissue where the nerves get " stuck " and cannot move freely. It is rather like having an elastic band that doesn't stretch but pulls hard on the nerve hence the pain. There is simply no cure for this as any attempt to attack the problem surgically would most likely put me in a wheelchair. Tony, I have stenosis and sorry you have that problem, and I hope you can see a specialist. There are many procedures to release impingement as what I mentioned that they did A RACZ procedure that they co thru you coccyx and into the spine and remove the scar tissue with a small catheter. I am sure you know what you have, I have stenosis also but have this in each and every part of your spine is really unusual and I deal with pain with my moderate stenosis and spinal fusion with BAK cages (remove your vertebrae and put cages in), rods, and screws. There are many out patient procedures that are used to remove scar tissue so I hope you find relief. Since I have the same thing, impingement, trapped nerves in specific places L-4-L-5 causing impingement, with moderate stenosis with scarring and a displaced disc matter. For me, I have a stretching program that assists with getting then impingement loosened, and keep it as loose as it can in the narrowing (stenosis) there it is. It is interesting that you had this since birth but only had symptoms twenty years ago! Do you have narrowed openings in each of your vertebral bodies in the Lumbar and Cervical Spine and since stenosis is a condition and not a disease like degenerative disc disease, did they tell you what specific problem you have, if you don't mind me asking? Many of us have nerve problems, scarring, and sometimes and impingement (entrapped) spinal nerves, so I am curious. What type of specialist do you see? Tony, it is so painful and my doctors tell me to avoid surgery and I also try to avoid any treatments that would make the situation worse. I hope you get pain relief and I had to change my job (due to physical labor) and have a physical therapy stretching program given to me that helps. I hope the best for you and please let us know how you are doing . Bennie
