Guest guest
Mr. , Contact the manufacturer of the ambulance box ( i.e., wheeled coach, AEV, etc.) I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the MAV style ambulances have separate a/c systems for the cab and patient compartment. If this is the case, the cab system could be low on freon or have a more serious problem. If there is one system for both, you could have a faulty valve in your a/c compressor. I hope this helps you. Guest guest
Check the Orifice tube on the Front A/C Air Conditioning Problems I have a 1999 model Freightliner " MAV " ambulance manufactured by Wheeled Coach. The A/C in the back is cold, but the one in the front is not. Is my truck unique or are others having similar problems? I have contacted Freightliner for assistance, but haven't received any, as of yet. Any help would be appreciated. Guest guest
Tom, Is it a single compressor system or did Wheeled Coach add another, if it is a single compressor system Glenn is right, I would check the orfice, or in some cases like International an expansion valve, if you see some debris you may be losing the compressor. If not, try replacing the orfice-expansion valve and the front dryer. Your rear dryer may be catching the debris enough to keep it cool for a while, but it won't be long.... Guest guest
Does your unit have separate a/c systems? One for the box and one for the cab? Troubleshooting a/c systems can be tricky at best. If the a/c compressor under the hood does not engage when the a/c is turned on, you could have a compressor problem, a blown fuse, or the compressor could be low on freon. If the compressor engages but the cab still does not get cold or gets cool briefly then gets hot again, you could have a plugged orifice tube which requires evacuating the system. If the compressor engages and the air does not cool at all, you could have a temp control module problem. The starting point would be to check the compressor operation. Either way, you will probably need to consult a QUALIFIED a/c mechanic. Hope this helps a little.
