Quick Intro..

My name is Jacqui..49 yo from Duluth, MN...I've had Polymyositis

since Dec. 1988...Prednisone and Imuran work for me (Thank You

GOD)...I was stung by a wasp or hornet or bee on Aug. 23, 2001

and " that sting " threw my immune system into a frenzy and my CPK shot

into the 1000's...I had a bad reaction to a bee sting when I was in

3rd grade...So to make a long story shorter...the PM is back, I'm

back on high Pred. and Imuran AGAIN...with all of the delightful side

effects...YUG...This is only my 3rd bout with it..the rest of the

time I've been on drugs for it...Jan. 1, 2001 was the first day in 5

years that I was off ALL DRUGS for the PM...My Mom passed away April

15, 2001,we were very close...We had to go thru all of her stuff and

have an Estate Sale and sell her house...the only HOME I remember /

grew up in (with wonderful memories)...All I'm trying to say is that

there were other stresses beside the bee/hornet sting that could have

contributed to the onset...but I truely believe it was the STUPID bee

sting...All of my Dr's seem to agree, even tho there is nothing in

writing or in any journals regarding it...but it's logical...To be

honest with you, the sting wound STILL is not healed and it happened

Aug. 23, 2001...YIKES...This time I seem to be having a lot more

problem with my breathing...I have pulmonary fibrosis, raynauds,

roseasa, fibromyalgia, low thyroid and a few others to boot...Pred.

makes me retain water by the gallons, so I'm on lasix and pot.

chlor...The first time I was on high pred., I had cong. heart failure

(at 36 yo)...Once they gave me the lasix, I lost 18 lbs.

overnight...too bad it's not that easy to lose it now...LOL...Well,

now that my Mom is gone...I have no one to talk to about this and no

one to worry about me...I used to belong to *Sharon's Myositis Page*,

but it doesn't look like much goes on there now...I have a 10+ yo

Golden Retrv. (Kodi), a 10+ yo Irish Setter (Casey) and a 13 yo

Timneh African Grey Parrot (Timmy)...The Dogs are my life and keep me

active and happy---if I want to be or not...We're out walking twice a

day - 365 days a yr...and that's not easy in Duluth..LOL...

Have any of you had a really bad throbbing tooth while your myositis

has been active???...It has happened to me each time...It

aches/throbs SOOOOOO BAD I can't sleep for a few nights and then it

disappears and I feel nothing...then it'll be back ...then it

disappears...then back and so on....I've try to explain it to my

dentist, but he just gives me a weird look...I think I'm going to

call and talk to them again tommorrow about it...Who knows???

intro...got carried away...SORRY...
