Guest guest
Hi , I understand about neck and back pain, I've lived with it for 30+ years. I've avoided surgery which I believe is the right choice for me since this pain has plagued me since I was in my early 20s and even prior my sciatic nerves have flared up for no apparent reason as a teen. Since I also have Degenerative and Arthritic spine, inflammation, ruptured discs, compression fractures and compressed nerves there's not a day goes by that I am comfortable. Even with pain medication. I hope you can get your back in better shape and live your life without the disabling pain. Everyone deserves to live free of this pain and I feel that the younger folks may have a better chance than those of us who's spines are just plain too old to heal. Gentle hugs, Tami --- wrote: > > Hi all, > > I joined the group a few weeks ago and I have enjoyed your exchanges about dealing with pain. Guest guest
Welcome to our group . My nickname is , but I no longer use it. You have been through so much and I do feel your strength and determination. Yes, I have my dogs, my joy and best friends. Most are Australian Cattle Dogs but we have three little bitty mixes that make good bed warmers. I have always loved dogs, used to show in obedience with GSD's. I ran a ACD rescue for about 9 years, but can no longer do it. I'm not able. It's just recently that getting up off a low chair or the floor is a major struggle. I'm only 56 but strength is declining too quickly. I have a horse, to enjoy, not ride and if I had a buggy I'd train him to drive. We also have , a pygmy buck and chickens. Caring for the animals is my motivation for getting up and outside every day, no matter the weather. I smile when they all come to greet me. Of course it's the food they are most interested in but after eating they love attention. I have a bad spine as well. Know all too well the nerve pain and limitations of a weak and degenerating spine. Good to meet you. Sometimes I have what I call " electrical storms, " where the nerve pain shoots down so fast it makes me jump off the bed. These last 5 to 10 minutes. Fortunately, they are not real common. It is usually steady pain as if being shocked or stabbed. I also have crushing pain down both legs -- exactly the same pain in both -- as if concrete is pressing on my legs. > >My right leg was pretty strong until May 15 when I fell and really hurt my knee and possibly my spine -- who knows? Anyway, my right leg is weak now. I have been going to physical therapy and my right leg is getting stronger every day. > >I enjoyed your discussion on what you do to help ease your pain. Guest guest
Thanks Jeanette. Good to meet another dog person. We showed dogs in obedience and conformation for almost 20 years. We have two that need to finish now but, well, you know the travel that is involved and I just can't do it anymore and my meds cost too much anyway. Five of our dogs are rescue dogs. We have four Lhasa Apsos (one is a rescue); five Maltese (three are rescues); and one Poddle/Shih Tzu mix who was found hitchhiking in land. It would be fun to have chickens and to watch them eat. We had one living in our yard a ew years ago. We never did figure out here it cane from, but she sure demanded to be fed! What is a Pygmy buck? >Jennette wrote: > I have a horse, to enjoy, not ride and if I had a buggy I'd train him to drive. We also have , a pygmy buck and chickens. Guest guest
I love the little dogs quite a lot. Still am a cattle dog person, they are quite a lot of " dog " at times but I feel safe at home. Now, you probably know a buck is an intact male. What's a Pygmy? It's a very small goat. I've attached a photo of . Hope you are not suffering too much today, weather is changing, my bones, joints and head are throbbing. I spent quite awhile watching my youngest roosters and trying to decide if I'm going to keep any of them. Hard to say, I have one very large rooster, but they don't live a long long time so will need a replacement from the youngsters. I keep all the pullets which are young females. Guest guest
Thank you Tami! Good luck with your boxer. Maybe you could take him to obedience class. I sure would have to with a dog that big. Even our largest dog (25 pounds) needed training since I was afraid she would make me fall. My husband is just as guilty in our accumulation of dogs! We used to show them, and 5 are rescues, so that is how we got so many. So he can't be mad at me! >Tami wrote: > Hi and welcome ! I have a dog. She is a 7 1/2 month old boxer.
