Hi Tami:

I'm in the same part of PA as you. Well, pretty close. I'm in Lancaster. We

still have a bit of snow on the ground, too. A couple of days in the upper 30's

and up and it will be gone. I've had enough of it, too. The cold does horrific

things to my arthritic and degenerated places.

Today I'm seeing an orthopedic doc. Last week I somehow tweaked my left ankle

(don't know exactly what I did) and I haven't been able to put weight on it for

days (this is day 6). It's been horrible. I've been having to use my walkers in

the house and put all of my support on my upper body to keep from putting weight

on that leg as I take a step. Because of that, my back and shoulders and even my

ribcage have been miserable along with my leg. It's caused my bad knee (on the

same leg) to be such a misery that I don't know which pain is worse, the ankle

or the knee.

I had an x-ray day before yesterday and they said that there wasn't a break. My

rheumy said that she thinks I might have severe tendonitis that could be a

by-product of my sarcoidosis or prolonged prednisone usage. Whatever is causing

whatever is going on, I've got to get help. They were able to fit me right in,

although I have to drive to Ephrata for the appointment (or I should say my

husband has to drive me). I have to have a brace or something to help support my

ankle and knee. Hunching over my walkers isn't cutting it and it seems like I

damage it worse every day accidentally putting weight on it.

The worst thing is that I can't go anywhere by myself. I can barely manage to

get to the bathroom by myself. This has been the worst my mobility has ever

been. It's fine when I'm in the wheelchair, but I can't manage the wheelchair by

myself and losing my already limited ability to walk has been devastating.

Hopefully the ortho will have an answer and at least a temporary solution for

me.

- PA

Pa? I'm in the eastern part about 15 min drive from NJ line. We still have

some. I can't wait to spring!
