I guess because without the opiates, I usually have diarrhea, so they balance each other out. Not sure what else it could be. Marta To those of you who have constipation. I do not know if this will help, but my problems with constipation lessened a great deal when I started taking fish oil capsules every day. My doctor told me to give it a try, and now I only have problems about once a month or so, vs all the time. Since fish oil is known to have all sorts of great benefits I gladly take it instead of a laxative. If you find yourself burping from them, keep them in the freezer, they won't thaw out till after they pass through your stomach, thus no burping fishiness. Guest guest
A while ago a nurse posted on one of these groups that the " bomb " they use in nursing homes is : 1 cup warm prune juice followed by 2 oz. milk of magnesia. Disgusting but effective every time! LOL Very gentle hugs, Marla Re: constipation --- Marta wrote: > > I've been on opiates for years and that is one thing I've never had a problem with. Guest guest
It's the same with me Marta. I have ulcerative colitis and opiates seem to keep it calm. I usually have diarrhea too without the meds. SHELL Marta wrote: I've been on opiates for years and that is one thing I've never had a problem with. I'm rarely constipated. My one Sister got constipated once and she called me and said, " How do you stand it ? " I just live with it like you do with your diarrhea : ) Thinking of you Bennie
Guest guest
Actually, I DON'T have constipation, LOL, as I said in my post. I'm not sure why I don't, but it's a relief (no pun intended, LOL) But I'm sure those that do will benefit. > To those of you who have constipation. Guest guest
I've BEEN constipated (when I was pregnant it was BAD, LOL.thankfully that was years ago!) and it's not fun, though I'd almost rather have that than the times I get constant diarrhea..makes you HATE to go to the bathroom, LOL. I guess I'm lucky, though, that I don't have to worry about that aspect of taking pain meds.. Marta
