Okay, - I did, but not til this morning! IT'S COOL! Oh, I can't wait to

slice it. May have to wait another day or so. I just peeked I didn't touch.

The base is sort of a yellowish color (my olive oil is yellow) But it is

beautiful! (can I say that?) And smells heavenly of Lilac.

BTW, Audrey, I used my lilac infused oil in this batch, have you tried yours

yet?

Question? What do you all use for a truly WHITE bar of soap? I'm not sure I

want to use crisco. I could get a finer grade of olive oil for more $$$. I'll

check out Carilee's site, thanks for encouraging us to check it out.

Hi, a,

You can get a really white bar of soap by subbing sunflower oil, or canola oil

for your olive oil. For the canola oil, you will need to add a little more palm

oil or maybe some cocoa butter to make up for it giving you a little softer bar

than olive.

Hi ,

What qualities does canola oil add to soap, or would it just be considered a

lower priced filler?

Hi, Sandy,

How have ya been?

Canola has the closest make up to olive oil. The only difference is that it

makes a little softer bar of soap than olive does. I just add a little palm

kernal oil, or cocoa butter to make up for it. I have been experimenting with

it and it makes a really great bar of soap and lots cheaper than olive oil. It

also makes a very white bar.

I have used canola in the last few batches I made cause it is readily

available. But how much cocoa butter would it take to offset the softness of

the canola.

Hi, Tricia,

I use between 1/2 and 1 oz per pound of oils. For a five pound fat batch, I

would use 2.5 to 5 ozs of cocoa butter.
