Thank You for reminding us, Lyndi as the members here do appreciate ALL the

moderators. My husband changed the program in my computer so the send button is

automatic and hopefully I catch the errors.

Please send my posts back to me to correct as I don't want you guys to work

extra and I will correct and know what I did wrong. I will not be offended.

Thanks to all our moderators and we appreciate you all if you don't know it, I

wanted to remind you guys that you are great. Bennie

I'm not sure about the visually impaired readers, but correct spelling and

grammar really do help me understand what people are saying. There are

some lists (not this one, but others) in which some of the member posts are

virtually unreadable with all the errors. I want to give support, but one

has to be able to understand the question before an answer can be

formulated.

Hi All

We have been getting a lot of posts with horrific typing/spelling

mistakes. The moderators have been correcting most of them behind the

scenes. It's a lot of extra work for the four of us. Please use your

spell checkers and proof read your own posts before you send them in.

All email programs have spell checkers and Yahoo web mail highlights all words

that are spelled improperly.

Also please try to avoid abbreviations. Type the word out in full. If

you're not sure how to spell something, there are plenty of on line

dictionaries to help you. Heck, even if you type a word into Google and you

spell it wrong, Google will offer the correct spelling to you.

Also, please avoid using the ampersand. That's the & key.

We have a number of blind and vision impaired members. Their " real

aloud " computer programs cannot handle major spelling mistakes and many trendy

abbreviations. On our main page it states that we support our visually impaired

members. If you didn't read the page, when you signed up, please go back and

read it and follow its directions.

I know those of us who can see alright are very grateful for that.

Please be a friend to our members who can't see well or who can't see at all.

Take the time to make sure your email is readable before you send it to the

group.

Hi Marta

Thanks for the support. We also receive posts that are virtually

unreadable. If we can figure them out, we usually make them readable

and send them along. Sometimes though, the posts are so illegible, that

we can't do anything with them. Those we either send back or, if they

are a regular occurrence, we just delete them.

Spell checking and proof reading don't take long. They make the

difference between reading someone's posts or just skipping over them.

One thing I didn't mention in my last post was " the dots! " For those of

you who go dot happy with your posts, instead of using one period,

please practice ending your sentences with a period. You don't need a

dozen of them. We remove a lot of ...........'s. Vision impaired

computer programs can't read all those dots. They also make it hard for

sighted folks to follow your posts.

We all make spelling mistakes that we miss when we send in posts. But,

there shouldn't be three dozen spelling errors and abbreviations in one

post. <grin>

Also some folks use multiple [[[[brackets]]]] or ((((parentheses)))) for

emphasis. This also has to very difficult for vision impaired computer programs

to read. I know I remove a ton of these.

,

As with other moderators, why don't you just send them back to the specific

person, giving them the courtesy to correct them instead of generics, " You guys

should not do this and that " and keep having to add more and more things to

correct. Just makes more sense to me and as I have said to Lyndi, send mine

back and I will correct them myself.

I have seen also though, other things allowed through, that I have had to

correct, so who ever did not catch the last alot should know that it is a lot as

Lyndi has taught me : ) I have also seen a ton of the brackets and

parentheses cleared so that sends a confusing message.
