Hi Diane and welcome to the list! I just wanted you to know that the wait

for WLS with Dr. Shikora is 6-12 months! I had a consult scheduled at New

England Medical Center and cancelled it because that is just too long of a

wait. I have my first pre-op consult on May 17th with Dr. Thayer at Newton

Wellesley Hospital. I would love to have the surgery in July, so we'll see.

There are so many wonderful, caring people on this list. Glad you joined!

Take care!

Hey Diane,

I am from Malden too. Class of 74'! OMG .when did I get soooo old. LOL.

Glad you found us here, there is soo much information and such great

people. I know you will love to read all the posts and send some too.

My first appt. was with was Dr. Shikora, but I did not want to wait and

decided on Dr. Randall, and I am glad I found him. It seems that most of

the specialist in bariatric surgery are very good at what they do.

Hope all goes well.

And he has good reasons for the wait, one is an overload of people wanting the

surgery, 2 he wants to be sure you are in the right mind set, 3 he wants to make

sure you are healthy enough for the surgery.

All that was the reasons that I went with him, and I had NO fears of dieing

while on the table, I knew that all care was taken to make sure that I would be

here today. And I am!!!

Hi Gwen

Your questions are really good questions, that's what I have been asking. I know that my cervix isn't closed and that no scarring is visible there. It looks like you have to squeeze out information from your doctor's. To be honest I don't think they have any idea on my situation.

I'm looking forward to my next Saline U/S on the 16/08/01 so I can ask heaps of questions now I have this wonderful resource to read and to write to helpful and caring people.

If anyone can help me on other questions to ask it would be grateful.

I'll ask How thick is my lining?

Where are the adhesions, if any left.

Do I have an open cavity?

Regards

: Welcome to the group, but sorry you need to be here! Your

story is so similar to the rest of ours...and just as frustrating to

hear! I am on 4 mg per day of estrogen right now following surgery

the 10th of July and am on my Provera as well, (4 more days) and will

wait for my bleed.

I'm so sorry to hear you are having so many difficulties. If you

have only one adhesion it seems odd you would have no period at all?

Was the adhesion in your cervix? Is it possible that your cervix

has " sealed " itself and that is why you get no menstrual flow?

Hang in there....

Welcome ,

It is nice to meet you but I am sorry you have to be here. From what

you have described it sounds very simsilar to many of our stories

here. Retained placentas, constant bleeding after giving birth that

was dismissed by doctors only to end up in the ER like you and than

have D & C's done. Many of here believe our Ashermans was caused by

D & C's where the doc cut to deep as well. There are a lot of very

knowledgeable women here and I hope we can answer you questions.

When you had the HSG(hystersalpinogram) was it performed by your

doctor or the radioligist? I had/have a scared cervix and I saw one

of the " A " list doctors and he performed the HSG not the radiologist,

and he was able to break through the scarring at the cervix (it did

take a few attempts though). If I have learned nothing else here I

have learned that seeing an " A " list doctor if at all possible is the

ticket. As for treatment if you do not intend to TTC is a tough one.

I would still suggest going for a diagnostic hysteroscopy at least to

see the extent of the scarring and whether it will cause you any

trouble if it is not removed if you do not intend to TTC. I am

sorry if I didn't really answer your questions.

our stories are one in the same. It amazes me. I wonder if we had the

same Dr. I am not a Dr and dont know what the physical affects are of

keeping the scar tissue in there... but I will tell you that it became VERY

painful for me and I would have had the surgery just to get rid of the pain.

I also did not get a period but had horrible cramping each month... so it

may depend on your symptoms.

Love,
