Guest guest
Dear , Sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time and I am here to give you lots of hugs and keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that you can find someone who might qualify to come and help you out. Maybe there is an agency of some kind that has some kind of volunteers? That's only a thought and probably wishful thinking. Hope you get the support you need and deserve. ((((Hugs to you))))) Maribeth W.

Are you kidding me?! " although I didn't actually say that or react like that (but that is what I was thinking). I told her that it hurts more when I walk, so she suggested that I slowly work up to that amount of walking. I do believe that walking does help arthritis pain (mainly because that is what research has shown), but I can't do it right now because it hurts too much. > > Some other things I have tried are massage therapy (doesn't work long-term, only very short-term, and can get VERY expensive, especially because it is not covered by most insurance), opioids, Tramadol, and anticonvulsants. The latter two don't help at all. The opioids help some, but the low dose I am on right now does not help me very much (although it does help me some). This is because I am getting them from my GP, not a PM; I have an intake appt. with a Pain Management doctor in mid October, and my GP is just prescribing them until I get in to see him (the Pain Management doctor). All, This is just me, my care and what happened to me. Oh boy, alternative care, chiropracter (yep, I want one of those), D.O. (Yep, I want one of those and I will thump my thymus to stimulate my immunology and I will buy all natural suppluments and throw out those chemicals !, You Betcha, Vegetarian, Yep, I will do that to also. Now, I am trying to saying I am open minded and when I had my hysterectomy, I had this twinge in my rt hip sciatica. I went to this Father-Son chiopatric state of the art machinary to strengthen my muscles and manipulate and straighten the spine to make those muscles stay out of spasm. I was concerned the amount of times I was being manipulated and the Doctors stated that , " Oh No, this could never happen ! " Well my D.O. stated, No, this is not right and even the gentle manupulation they supposedly practice could cause problems and I am so sorry that I did the chiopraxtic care I did and in the Air Force we had to sign a waiver when we used them. The difference I look at my wonderful osteopathic doctor was : Osteopathic medicine is dedicated to treating and healing the patient as a whole, rather than focusing on one system or body part. An osteopathic physician will often use a treatment method called osteopathic manipulative treatment (also called OMT or manipulation) -- a hands-on approach to make sure that the body is moving freely. This free motion ensures that all of your body's natural healing systems are able to work unhindered. http://tinyurl.com/3k6l52x Like allopathic physicians (or M.D.s), osteopathic physicians complete 4 years of medical school and can choose to practice in any specialty of medicine. However, osteopathic physicians receive an additional 300 - 500 hours in the study of hands-on manual medicine and the body's musculoskeletal system. My D.O., did focus on what was going on right away and did not make patients go through all kinds of test before they treat you. For example, I went in because I had pain in my shoulder and my D.O. asked me, " Have you gotten chilled or slept under a fan " . WOW ! I had slept with wet hair (it was very long) under a fan and got my muscles all up in a knot and could not get it relaxed. He did not do manipulation but just put pressure against it like accupressure or myofascial release like my physical therapist does now. He then also saw my son who was blowing out green snot and he said antibiotics for him. He was well and a M.D. would have said, Well lets wait, he does not have a fever, the color of snot means nothing (I had a Doctor say this to me and that kids do not have sinuses) I wanted to come out of the chair and strangle her. Toddlers have sinuses, they may be under developed but are sinuses and my son had sinusitius so bad it would drain in his eustastian tubes which are slanted in young kids and culture and grow there. The Doctors would not tube his ears at 18 months but made him go through regimes of antiobiotics which now they say is wrong. Finally a specialist at Washington University in St Louis put tubes in his ears and he NEVER had another ear infection and they fell out on his own and he was had to have severve allergies in that area we lived. I took him as a youngster, to the Doctor as I thought he might have pneumonia, as I have had " walking pneumonia " and he seemed that way but as kids do, when he had waited a long time, he was running around when the Doctor finally say him and she said " He does not have puemonia, he doesn't have rales (noises in his chest or a fever) " . Well, when I took him in the next day to my D. O., he had a chest x-ray and he had infiltrates in the upper bases of his lungs under the clavicles and was very sick and needed treatment. To me, D.O.'s and Good M.D.'s, it's not limited to D.O.'s listen to what is not being said and will ask the hard questions. The older doctors I worked with would ask, what did their poop smell like, what color was it, how many times do you go, is it well formed. They would ask, how long did your cut bleed, was the blood old or new, did it smell, did it seemed like jello or runny, was it orange looking, red like cherries or red rusty red. Did your pee smell ? Was it clear? Did it have flakes in it or can you see through it. Is your skin scaly, smooth, hairy or non hair y. Do your nails smooth or have ridges ? Is your ear wax stinky, thick, brown or orange. I have had them ask me if my women drainage the same questions. Also, how the b.o. smelled. My D.O. asked me about my mouth care and will not shy away if I worry about my family, my finances, growing older, cancer, or any specific disease. I come from being trained by the old school Doctors that said, " They got green thick snot they are draining or coughing up, draw up 500 mg Penicillin and give it to em' and send em home to go to school " Make sure they get chicken noodle soup and some orange juice. Also, My Grandfather used coal oil to antiseptize wounds, drank a little for cough, blemishes, and bowels. Castor Oil was used by my Mother : ) I am sure others can have stories of what was used to heal. Dr. Sparicino, the D.O. of my son of twenty three years ago, I hope you are doing well and thank you for being you. To me, this is what a good doctor is, one who is observant and able to ask questions. I told my Doctor recently I had metal taste in my mouth (thyroid was very low) and that my urine smelled like burned electrical wire, she almost feel over and told me it was a med. I know that asperigellus smells sweet (fungus) and could always smell it when my son had ear infection and was always able to tell when I have thyroid imbalance because I get hoarse. So, I really, really am old and I am sure that other of you have stories you can share right ? I will not let anyone manpulate my back and my physcial therapist, neurosurgeon, pain management Doctor, Internal Medicine have ALL told me that it is not a good idea with degeneative disc disease, my spinal stenois, and spasm. My physical therapist has a low stretch program and no friction but myofascial release breaks up those spasm. , I will e-mail you privately.
