Guest guest
I belong to another chronic pain group that consists of only women and has only about 10 members. this is a new group and the people in charge or " moderators " are trying to feel their way around so to speak and also use the 12 steps as a structure for resilience with chronic illness. We do have a board and people are feeling much freer to post now where in the beginning they weren't feeling comfortable talking about their pain. Now, and this is the crux of what I wanted to ask what your thoughts were about laughter. That has become a big issue now and emphasis put on us with chronic pain. Sometimes or most of the time I don't feel like laughing and when I do believe me I consider that to be a blessing. I wanted to know what other peoples thoughts were about this pressure to have more laughter ? Thanks, Maribeth
Guest guest
Hi Maribeth, For me Laughter is a sign,a sign that if I realize I'm laughing,or was just laughing that wow good for me, my pain/disability quality of life is better for the moment. If someone's kidding me,or trying to get me to laugh and I feel like punching them/screaming stop it/crying then its a sign that I'm in,been having a bad pain day and need to get some help(take med, distress, some alone time, etc). I've seen the studies that even faking-forcing laughter Helps mood, well being, etc. Tried it didn't care for it,(I dislike false emotions in general,so often when family calls I put on the cheerful voice and when asked how am I,say the same, hanging in there-when I really want to cry and say its hell,I'm not sure how much more my soul can handle.) For real laughter I'll listen to a podcast I know makes me crack up,or watch a funny movie,TV show. Its good to laugh. Peace, >Maribeth wrote: > > Now, and this is the crux of what I wanted to ask what your thoughts were about laughter. That has become a big issue now and emphasis put on us with chronic pain. Its good to laugh. , You said it so well, my sentiments exactly, we are taught not to lie but we are requested not to say anything others might not want to hear. Guest guest
We all can use a good laugh. I 'stumbled' on a site that had very funny 'cat vidos' on it. I sat here & laughed & laughed. When my family would come in. I'd make them watch some. They finally stoped coming in, they were all watching 'Nascar'. Whats better watching cars go around & around, or watching silly cats? Shoot I forgot the name of the site, have in 'Favorites', I'll look it up & post it. Also found a site on dogs, my back hurt to much to explore it more. I'm sure many of us have been there, Computer time over, is there a 'joke' site on here? I'll look. A group sends me jokes all the time, some aren't so 'clean', but still funny. Back to deleating e-mail, as long as my back holds out. It really has built up. Maribeth wrote:> > Now, and this is the crux of what I wanted to ask what your thoughts were about laughter.
