I thought people on disability could earn up to $1000 a month.

Tami,

This is the point I wanted to make and when someone is asking for more hours to

work and applying for disability, they will likely deny.

I took my job position and went through each task and why I could no longer do

them, had the disability functional evaluation, and documentation.

I was approved right away and got my earnings and unfortunately cannot work at

all.

When I was on Social Security, they sent me mailings about if I got better and

Right to Work program and how you can make up to a certain amount.

I knew this was an option but I did not think it good to show ability to work

and applying for disability.

This is from the SSI website:

WHAT DOES " DISABLED " MEAN FOR AN ADULT?

An individual age 18 and older is " disabled " if he or she has a medically

determinable physical or mental impairment, which:

results in the inability to do any substantial gainful activity; and

can be expected to result in death; or

has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than

12 months.

WHAT DOES " LIMITED INCOME " INCLUDE?

Income includes:

money you earn from work;

money you receive from other sources, such as Social Security benefits, workers

compensation, unemployment benefits, Department of Veterans Affairs, friends or

relatives; andfree food or shelter.

We do not count all kinds of income for SSI, but income that we do count

reduces your SSI benefit amount. For more information, see SSI INCOME.

I would review the website and see what you qualify for before applying as if

you apply it counts for one of your applications and you can only appeal three

times (what I was told ). Bennie

Lori,

It is after you have been awarded disability because the point of disability is

that you can't work, then if you get better you can earn up to nine hundred

something(almost a thousand) is what the paperwork I got said. It is listed on

the website. Bennie
