Guest guest
You need to change doctors and if you aren't seeing a Pain Management Doctor, you really should get a referral to one. Like you, I realized that I was literally eating tylenol and other OTC pain relievers and wasn't even getting the relief I needed. There are also Fibro specialists that may have supplements, physical therapy and other methods to relieve pain. There is no cure, we can not live with disabling pain and doctors need to stop telling us to suffer. I am allergic to Lyrica, tried Cymbalta and Neurontin and Savella, they got me sicker than heck. I was on all three for more than 6 months hoping the sickliness would go away, but it didn't. Guest guest
I have chronic pain but not fibro I am not good on meds -they make me stupid. Tramadol did nothing, vicoden , nothing but felt like a zombie so I take oxycodone 5MGs tablets an I can use the cutter to first take 1/2 , then 1 hour later the other half so i don't feel dopey and it helps me. It is the lowest dose, Cathie
Guest guest
That''s the problem with Fibromyalgia. Most doctors, while they agree that it's chronic pain, believe that it's not severe enough for pain medication. They think the things like lyrica, savella, etc. are the meds that will help - oh ya and EXERCISE! Tell me, if you hurt sitting still, how are you going to go jogging? I know that moderate exercise helps pain, but getting the pain under control long enough to start exercise is helpful. I have Fibromyalgia in addition to the RSD and he rniated disks. While the Fibromyalgia is not as painful as the others, that is just me; others can be nearly bedridden, but most doctors won't treat it like even moderate pain. But now he wants me to stop taking the Tramadol, what am I supposed to do then?? Please find another doctor! Find a pain management doctor who will understand that long-term medical management of chronic pain is appropriate, and who will be willing to prescribe the right meds. You're right that most general practitioners aren't willing to manage medical maintenance meds. But that's only because they aren't trained for it, and because they don't have the systems in place to manage those kinds of scrips. Sadly, in the US, they can get in trouble for prescribing " too many " pain meds, unless they have systems in place for tracking and monitoring their prescriptions, such as monthly appointments and regular urine tests of their patients. That's why you need an expert, someone who specializes in pain management. Cheryl in AZ Moderator

Marta, I had a fibro flare this past week and still dealing with it. If I do not get sleep, I get a flare. So I make sure I take my sleeping meds and get a deep and restorative sleep. I am in agreement, I know exercise helps but when you feel like you have just been beat all over with a baseball bat, you don't feel like doing anything. I am just now getting up. Last week I went to a wedding, vacuumed my whole house and cleaned and was feeling good about what I was doing and then I get the knock down pain of fibro. I know exactly what it is because it hurts all over and I feel like I have the flu. Hope you get better and no those meds do not help me. Just hanging on.
