Guest guest
I know Azle FD has been carrying it for awhile. You might contact Lt. Lemming over there.
Guest guest
Waller County EMS uses Amidate (etomidate) - It did not replace any other drug. We have found it to be very useful in RSI - It does have some sedation effect, but is most useful for its amnesia effects. Etimodate Okay, not sure on the spelling, but I am curious on how many agencies carry this drug. If so, what are thoughts on its actions and did it replace any other drug in your system? We are considering this drug to our system. We carry Versed and Norcuron currently. Thanks. Mansfield
Guest guest
(with nod to arsoninvst ): We carry Etomidate (Brand is Amidate) is the amnestic/sedative agent in our RSI protocols. We adopted this a couple of years ago since the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (NCTTRAC) incorporated it into their Medical Advisory Committee protocols. The chief reason for it's use is that it does not have the cardiovascular effects that some others such as Versed have. It has been used in our system at least once with no problems. The NCTTRAC Protocols including RSI can be viewed at: http://www.dfwhc <http://www.dfwhc> .org/ncttrac/rac1.htm The chair for this committee is Dr. Ansohn. His contact information is under the Executive Committee links. I hope this helps. If you need anything else, give me a call. Lt. I've had a fair amount of experience with etomidate (Amidate), both in Beaumont and here with my new job in Temple. Very good med. Very short acting, though, but my experience is that it has relatively little hypotension nor any other significant side effects. Versed is a great drug too, but we had a surprisingly large number of untoward effects with it, especially hypotension. We use it for sedation in hurt or hypotensive people, instead of Versed. Works great in that role. Good luck, , BS, LP Director of Pre-Hospital Services and White Memorial Hospital Temple, Texas > > Mansfield > > >
