Guest guest
Deb you are doing splendid keep up the good work (unknown) > > Thank you one and all for all your responses. I talked with my therapist today about how I'm feeling and she said it is completely normal. It will take me a long time to get myself out of the mind set of " a fat person " , but I hope to accomplish that one day. I certainly didn't put the weight on overnight (or take it off either) but I know it will happen one day. I also saw my family Doc today for a B12 shot and a weigh-in. I was worried that I hadn't lost this month, but I was down another 4 1/2 pounds, so that's certainly better than gaining. A grand total now of 168.5 pounds down. Anyway, it's late now and I'm off to a cottage tomorrow for a much needed break, so I'll be in touch when I'm back (one week). Have a great week everyone and keep on losing! Guest guest
At my doctors appointment in August they did not do any blood work. Just ask me if I had recently had any & I replied yes with my general doctor. My gynocologist found the fibroid on examination & confirmed it w/sonogram & reccomended a hysterectomy. I have been so tired...and wondered why they did not do the blood work up, especially after the sonogram showed a large fibroid. Am I wrong or should he have done this....Thanks much. Guest guest
Thank you Tim Hanging in there " The only thing I know, is that I know nothing. " (unknown) Dear , Hang in their, there is always someone worse off than yourself or so they say. Personally the last thing I want to think about when the Afib's bad is someone else who may be worse. It doesn't help at all. Best to remember that you are not alone even in Aus'. Sometimes I think my feathered friend has fallen off his perch. My best regards, Tim UK,56,NSR, Flecainide 100 * 2, Magnesium + lots of hope. wrote My qt was so long on tambocor that it caused no pulse at all (asystole). Guest guest
Tim - Thanks for a very good post. I second everything you said. This group has been a blessing. I've been in nsr now for two months, after 5+ months of chronic afib before attempting cardioversion. Even if I never have another bout of afib, I will remain part of the group. Guest guest
I mean by the younger ones the ones who are under 70++, these people dont seem to know they have af and its only a routine check that finds it out. This condition seems to affect the young 30 50 who are fit and very active.. I was told by one of those idiot Drs that its because we are fit that our bodies cant cope with it. I believe there is a different type of AF. I mean, that we have so many drugs and so many triggers that perhaps the AF hits a different part of the heart and cause all these various problems. I just do not know as this is a guess. The big problem is there is a cure with the PVA and the maze. But it take too long and the Drs who do this procedure are very highly trained and experts in the field. Until the procedure is perfected and takes 20 mins then I fear it only the ones who are feeling the pain and can shout who will get treated. It may be who knows, there is found a virus or something that can prevent this but I also fear this is a long way off. C 52 now. UK Ps your right GPs need to get up to speed but I wonder how many more conditions are there out there that affects a lot more of us that we know about. So to be a GP and an expert on all these things does take some doing. Now you have started my soap box. MY big gripe about this one (AF) when you go to a Dr who knows nothing about AF(idiot come to mind) they tell you there is no problems and all the things you feel are in your head. Its only when you see the experts that they tell you yes you may feel pain. yes you may feel short of breath. ETC ETC. So in answer to your question your right, if I was a GP I would read up on these things or at least ring and expert and ask advise. It seems so simple to me but DRs dont seem interested now!!!. Sorry guys off of my soap box now. C wrote, (snip) " It is the younger ones who feel the pain of this condition. " Hey , you have made my day I now feel much younger. I must admit that I feel more comfortable with my Afib now that I am pretty sure I can handle each episode but I obviously don't like it much. In my case, and I am sure you would agree in most cases, the biggest hurdle to overcome is the initial shock. We can sympathise with those who like many of us who have suddenly been aware that the heart, something that normally does it's own thing, is not beating correctly. This together with the awful deep stomach fear and not having any fellow sufferers to talk to can almost turn you into a gibbering wreck. I certainly found that the most of the average GP's know little about the problem and by the time you actually see someone half sensible you can be in one hell of a state. The only way out of this is to have been a member of this group before the onset of Afib. Carts and horses come to mind. I like many others have come to live with the problem and have developed an understanding of Afib .Even if this understanding is that we as sufferers are all different. I have learned more form this group than I would ever have learned through the normal medical channels. Thanks mainly to yourself and other fellow contributors, Best of health to you and all, Tim. (heparin has a very short half life so it will be out of your system in a much shorter time frame) If you are concerned it's worth discussing this with you doctor and finding out if you are at high risk or high fear All the best -- D
Guest guest
I think you have to keep things in perspective. The likelihood of a stroke is 5 to 7 times more for us A-fibbers than the population in general, but keep in mind its no different than smokers vs. non smokers & lung cancer - smokers are more likely to develope cancer, but is still not a " given " that if you smoke you get cancer anymore than if you don't smoke you won't - being off coumadin for 5 or 6 days out of 365 in a year isn't much if you look at it that way. Besides, lots of procedures, let alone any surgeries, can't be performed unless blood thinners are discontinued prior. You just have to accept it as a A-Fibber. I just had an colonoscopy yesterday (totally voluntary - I'm 57 & hadn't had one) & had to discontinue coumadin & aspirin 6 day prior. I'm not dismissing your concerns - everyone is different - but I bet you would find the majority of those participating on this board had to quit blood thinners briefly from time to time. You'll be fine !
