I do want the pain relief but for now the meds are going to have to do. Am I wrong in my thinking? Hi Becky If it didn't work the first time, it isn't likely to help a second. Don't worry about the doctor's feelings. You are the one in pain, he isn't. He no doubt, received plenty of money from your insurance. These procedures are quite profitable for them. Regards to the bill, see if you qualify for assistance from the hospital. Most have programs for people without insurance, surely they might consider taking what your insurance paid them. I am sure the price was hideous. Take good care of yourself. Kaylene
Guest guest
Becky, I don't know that you're " wrong, " but I DO know the incredible magic of pain relief which not so incidentally allows for greater clarity of thought. I DO know of people who've tried a second time for whatever the procedure was and it WORKED, but I also know that for some, the second time proved equally as useless. Six of one, half dozen of another! What I'd do in your place is swallow every bit of " pride " to thoroughly track down whatever programs might help you pay, including the doctor's " generosity. " I'm suspecting you really don't have much hope that a second time would prove helpful and frankly I'm a great believer in gut instincts AS LONG AS they're not clouded by pain-thinking. Oh, BEST of wishes, Becky!! love, Helena > Becky wrote: > I do want the pain relief but for now the meds are going to have to do. Am I wrong in my thinking? Guest guest
Oh Becky I am so sorry to hear the news. It is such a shame! Do you have medicare or private insurance? Is there any program that might be able to help cover the amount you how? Keep us posted about how you are doing. Guest guest
Wow.I can imagine that cost, though since I'm on Medicare and Medicaid, I probably won't have to pay anything. While the Stim helped my herniated disk, I'm thinking of going for a second opinion before making the final decision, as the thought of surgery and the possibility of it making the RSD worse is really scary. I hope you find something that can help. maybe the second procedure would be lowered since it was the doc's fault for not finding the right place? Guest guest
You should ask about financial assistance and/or reduced payment plans. If you go to a teaching hospital or even a catholic one (where I live, the greatest assistance is available at Holy Spirit Hospital, which is owned by the catholic church, but Hershey Medical Center (teaching hospital) still offers help). You are NOT wrong, no one should lose their financially security because they're sick and it takes a strong person to deal with pain. Unfortunately, in this country, many people are at risk of losing their house if they get sick. My mother-in-law died on February 3 of this year because she was under-insured and hard choices had to be made and unintended consequences/complications arose. I will never forgive myself for not forcing her to go to the hospital that day.
