Guest guest
Hi, all. I had a four-level lumbar fusion with half a hardware store's worth of instrumentation last July. Healing has gone well, especially after I started using the electromagnetic bone growth stimulator belt 4 hours every day. But I've had a lingering problem with my left leg since the surgery - it works and I can feel everything, but it hasn't really felt like 'my' leg, but like it was borrowed from someone else (I'm calling my leg 'Alice' right now). So on Monday I go in for outpatient surgery to have the L2 screw on the left removed and either repositioned or discarded. It's impinging the spinal canal just a teeny bit and that may be the root of the problem. If the screw can just be discarded, which seems most likely, the surgeon will also cut the rod on the left off shorter. Anyway, wish me luck on solving the leg problem. I'll report back later. - in New Mexico
